Indoor plumbing.
I dunno how could I had forgotten about this one.
Its amazing how many aspects of our lives we take for granted, and we only seem to realize how HUGE they are when they're missing.
I spent 2 years in a place with no indoor plumbing, and trust me, a lack of toilets (or even paper towels) is HORRIBLE.

...yeah.

Cars don't need electricity. Not from the power grid anyway. They generate all of the electricity they use from the alternator.

You know, this is about the best comment here.

Hybrids need a charger.

Hybrids are useless pieces of crap, and make up maybe 0.25% of the car market.

And? They are still a type of car that runs off of electricity that needs an outside source to power them.

BUT if you think about it, people lived without those commodities before, we'll just have to adapt and overcome.

Yeah but we're talking about the soft simple people of the now a days; if we lost the entire electrical grid with no chance to get it back, most of North America except for probably southern Mexico would go nuts and end up as Mad Max fairly quickly.

My point is that loss of electricity will have little to no immediate effect on car usage. As time drags on, however, it will be affected, since electricity is used in the manufacture and maintenance of cars.

The population is dependent on certain things, such as efficient
agricultural techniques
and division of labour. People are political animals, after all. Didn't see high rises before electricity.

Don't forget cars cannot run on Crude Oil and electricity is used in the refraction process to make petrol/diesel!
Not sure what I'd miss most out of not being able to pop to my local shop's to get food/drink (I'd never be much of a hunter) or soft toilet roll.
