137: Called a girl on making a racist statement. She tried to choke me out. Actually, I think I was braver in primary school. I'm more of an appeaser now. Though about a year ago some drunk guy said “nice shirt, andale andale ariba”. I said “the shirt is from Nigeria, not Mexico” and he eyed me up, but then walked away. Another friend called some skinheads on racist crap and they threw him down the escalator at a tube station.
138. Well, I've changed schools twice (primary and secondary). The second time was because I got kicked out temporarily for pyrotechnics in the class (friends filled my pencilcase with deodorant, then lit it on fire). So I decided not to go back. I got home schooled for six weeks by my mother, but my little sister was under a year old at the time and she said it wasn't working out, so I applied to a local secondary school.

Sorry about your situation, Gamer. But that made me LOL. Sounds like something I would have done in high school.

When I was 19, we were living in Oregon with my mom when she and her boyfriend at the time (husband now) decided to up and move to Texas without us. They left me and my partner in their house of which they were like 6 months behind in rent so we ended up getting evicted and had to drive to PDX, leave our car, our animals....everything. Get on a plane and return to Oklahoma with only what we could fit in our suitcase.
Edit: We did make sure to leave food for the animals and tell the landlord who also lived on the land about them. After we moved, the landlord wrote us to tell us they did manage to find good homes for them. That made it a little more bearable.

Not "completely" but yes.
After the 2002 Riots, and being locked up, my family decided to move away from Caracas. Not only to live closer to where I was (The prison of Sabaneta is on the state of Zulia) but also because if there's something history has taught us is that:
A: Venezuela will always have political unrest. Its just part of our history, and I don't think that's ever going to change. Political corruption is an inseparable part of the system, and sooner or later people get fed up, and then the crap really hits the fan.
B: When said crap hits said fan, the first place to go down in flames is Caracas. Its the capital city, where all the government is based, the literal seat of power, and in case of war (Civil or otherwise) that's the first place where the dead will start piling up.
So my parents, and my brother moved from caracas to both be safer, and also be near me.
After I was released, I pretty much had to start from zero, in a new city, with no job, no education, no friends, most of my family was away (they've all relocated from caracas over the years, its just not a safe place to live) lots of debts (there was an extortion racket on the prison were I was, where if the family of an inmate doesn't pay up a "protection fee" the head honchos beat and later kill the inmate, so my family had to pay a lot of money to keep me safe in there, and we were all up to our necks in debs) I had a stain on my record (Not everyone wanna hire someone who was in prison, not for nothing they're known as "Gladiator Academies") and a lot of emotional baggage from my time in there (Seriously, I'm not kidding, were it not for the support of my family, and the support of those missionaires who went to preach there, I think that place could had broke me, I saw some things nobody should ever have to see in there).
Lots of though times, but I was able to overcome it with time, effort, and the unwavering help of my parents and little brother. The church was also a big BIG help too, that Pastor has a lot of saying on the local community and it was with his vouch that I was able to get a new job, and afford my studies at college, It was also his influence that landed me this job on the bank I currently work on.
Can't say it was easy, but I think overall, I'm a more resilient, tempered, stronger man due to all of that.

Q: "Have you ever had to completely start your life over?"
A: Yes, many times. Unfortunately, when you're surrounded by the people you've known since childhood it become insanely difficult to not fall back into your habits, routines, ways of thinking, and personality. But I'm heading off to college in a few days, and from what I know no one I know will be there. Here's hoping I have better luck changing myself there than I do where I currently am.

Ohh right =P I forget you don't post here often, and on vent I've never really mentioned any of this.
well, if you're curious, the whole story is
here
thanks to another new user who didn't knew it.
though I don't think I've "won" anything, this isn't a competition, we all suffer our share of struggles and strife on our lives, Donny and Ashelia have had it (IMO) far worse than me, and they've managed to not just survive it, also managed to find their own success, plus every battle matters, for example benzene coming out to his parents.......... if I was gay, I don't think I'd ever have the courage to come out of the closet, considering the highly unfair negative stigma associated with homosexuality.
All in all, thanks for your support though =]

Not completely but very close more then once. I was a military brat so every few year (average 3) I would move to a new state where I knew no one but my family.
It is a hard way of growing up
.
dang...........
yep, it is. You have my sympathies bro'
Rankkorr: But yes, I went and read that full story now. Thank you for sharing it. I think a lot of people wouldn't want to talk about it it at all.
Only reason I can is because its been 10 years of that (this april 11th was the tenth year), and of course, rather than have a national mourn day for all the people who died then (I was just one among thousands who had their lives go down the crapper that day) Chavez declared it a national celebration day. =/
But, as the old saying goes "Time mends all wounds" so I can talk about it freely now (well, mostly, I still would rather not remember what I went through inside Sabaneta, while my wife, and church still go there to bring food to the inmates and preach to them, I just can't go back there, I swore to never set another foot in there as long as I have pulse)
It's of course important for these stories to be told, too, so that people understand that things like this happen today, in the world we all live in.
Course I cant talk about this in public media over here, criticizing the government is a big no no. 1 major TV station, 3 radio stations, and over 5 news papers have been shut down by the government for publicly speaking against it, not to mention the countless blogs being brought down for the same thing.
Though yes - every struggle is important
yep they are, I've come to admire a lot of the folk here at wowhead for their great courage and resilience. You included =) I wish you all the best with your transition as well.
Edit:
Interesting note:
Sabaneta is ranked as one of the top 10 worst prisons in the world.

This is how one of the "premium" cells looks like. If you're lucky, (or have high conections) you get one of these. if you are unlucky, you get a patch of dirt with mosquitos and snakes. if you're very unlucky (aka 80% of the inmates who aren't at the top of the pyramid) you get the same patch of dirt, but have to share it with another 6 people.

Twice. Apart from the incident on the 2002 riots, when I was 2 years old, I had a high fever that ended in a convulsion.
The docs told my parents I was lucky to even be alive.

I -think- I might've almost drowned when I was 3 or 4. The memory is a little blurry though, so I can't tell for sure.
