I am not a newb to forums, board code, etc. However, I'm having some frustrations with using Wowhead and cannot seem to find a tutorial anywhere.
First of all, I'd like to refer you to a specific post to use as a reference, but I cannot even figure out how to link specifically to that post. It's on
this page
, specifically the post made by stym.
Secondly, I cannot figure out how to link quests the way he has. I'm trying to link to a daily quest called Saur Loser, but can only manage it looking like
Vilaines bestioles
or
Saur Loser
.
I'm frustrated because such things used to be a specialty of mine and now I cannot even seem to be able to get Google to get me to a place where I can learn these BASICS and I cannot quote these posts to inspect the coding they used. Please help as I'd like to be able to take the time to make my posts be more user friendly and quite frankly, more attractive. Thank you for your time.
Very odd. When I posted
Vilaines bestioles
here, it looks like I'd hoped it would, but on the page I'm referring to, my reply containing that code appears as a hyperlink that looks like (Quest #32550).
And now that I've refreshed that page it appears to have parsed correctly.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##Moved to Feedback

Yeah, that happens. Quest/Item/Spell links don't actually look right until you've posted. Just something to get used to and keep in mind while posting on Wowhead!

Unless the quest/npc/item/spell etc has already been pulled for the thread then it just appears as you describe. Once you refresh the page after posting it should link properly; if it doesn't at that point, then you may need to add the domain=ptr tag (if you're linking to or discussing something from the PTR and not live) to the end of your code or recheck to make sure you have the right # / class specified.
Right now if you were to type in the quest=32550 you would see in the preview box that is pops up correctly; because it's already been pulled in this thread.
Hope that clears up any confusion.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

Thank you.
As for my other question, is it possible to link directly to specific comments?

Oh yes... click the link next to the name of the person who posted that says how long ago the post was made...
For example, linking directly to your post I clicked the (at present) '31 minutes ago' link and that gave me this:
http://www.wowhead.com/forums&topic=215261#p3450293
Which identifies the topic as well as the post you made.
Is that what you're referring too?(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

Ah, yes. I think I was thrown off by all the links regarding post count and achievement count. Thanks for schooling me. :)

I actually don't have the necessary permission level to update that page; however, I'll see about passing that request on to someone who can/will.
I assume a brief sentence at the top of the Database Tags section that says something on the lines of:
"Tags may not show properly in the Live Preview until submitted. Once submitted, reload to ensure tags have updated correctly."
