Parallels between WoW and Lord of the Rings

Aragorn was ranger, whats survival hunter.
And about parallels, majority (if not all) of medieval fantasy stories are just rewrited version of LoTR/Hobitt. Mr. Tolkien defined the genre. Like Doom of FPSs.
Aragorn fits Paladin or Warrior much closer than Hunter in terms of WoW classes. When does he ever use traps or
use ranged weapons
? Now compare that to the number of times he fights with a big sword or heals people.
And you mean Wolfenstein 3D of FPSs, right?
um the bow? lol and he got along with animals (well horses which came to find him) well :P
He uses ranged weapons just as much as a warrior tank is wow does (or used to until we got heroic throw).

Legolas = Hunter
I saw Legolas stab someone with an arrow then shoot it at someone. We should be able to do that.

Well, considering that if lord of the rings (or any other of J.R.R. Tolkien's books for that matter) had never been written, the fantasy worlds of D&D or Warcraft would cease to exist, it isn't all that hard to see similarities.... no one else has come up with another world as originally done since him.... almost every single fantasy story or game involves the same races... granted that most of the races come from mythology of real cultures from around the world (dwarves, orcs, elves, giant eagles, all come from norse mythology for example)... he was, I think, the first person tio throw them all into one story that has been copied and redone several times, one of which was Warcraft....

Please. Do not base your knowledge of LotR off of the movies.

I really enjoy how much icecrown looks like mordor. You can shout "ripoff" all you want but there are times where I just fly around and enjoy all the detail that they put into even the most remote parts of icecrown.
And I dont know if fantasy is considered mainstream enough to have a formula but if you look at the old greek stories (odysius, hercules, blah blah blah) they all follow the exact same storyline: Hero is raised away from home, Hero discovers he is special in some way, hero fights, hero returns home and is praised. Even Tolkien took alot of elements from this formula.
I guess with all the stories told over the course of human history at least a few are gonna sound the same.
I would argue that Greek epics followed a much different formula. Greek heroes were born heroes and had natural ability. You mention Odysseus specifically, he doesn't match any of your criteria.
He was a respected ruler prior to Troy
He is a renownd warrior prior to Troy (as we know from the boar hunt)
His people don't welcome him when he comes home. They abuse him (albeit while in disguise) and he kills all of the suitors.

You forgot the Eagles/Dragons.
The one thing Blizz didn't take from Tolkien is the fact that there's no such thing as Dwarf women, which Tolkien took from the Nordic Eddas. I think they should've upheld that one. Dwarf women are fugly.
There are dwarf women in lotr. Gimli makes a joke saying some people think there's no dwarf women because they look a lot like the men, but that's ridiculous because where would dwarf babies come from?
All fantasy has a lot of similar motifs and characters. Pretty much all have orc/troll peoples of some kind although the size and features vary, all have magic of some sort, and kingdoms of men. It would be interesting to see a fantasy novel in which the kingdoms were all orcs or trolls and men were the evil race with seemingly no women or personal touch to them.
Once again, because apparently it needs repeating:
PLEASE do not reference the movies as official sources of LOTR lore. That line does not exist in the books, and while Tolkein may have written about dwarves, that line is not his.
Thank you.
But ZOMG Jackson > Tolkien!
/sarcasm
Dís is the only named female Dwarf mentioned by Tolkien (I forget where--
War of the Jewels
I'm thinking). Also Tolkien stated that roughly 1/3 of the dwarves are female which is one of the reasons they breed so slowly. They also all have beards.
