this probably doesn't show me in my PvP gear, but I'm using as much Ornamented/Salvation/etc. gear as I have, only slots that aren't PvP yet are weapon, shield, and one of my trinkets (The Black Heart for stam/armor-proc). I gem for Int mostly, with some Int/SP + Int/Mp5 thrown in for bonuses.
thanks for those tips, I do use BoL/SS/FoL, but I have trouble with pillars and knowing when to use CDs to break crowd control.

Bunch of pointless criticism
Back in der olden days, a gladiator was someone who fought in an arena.
S'truth!
Positioning is hugely important; LOS is seriously the single most important tool you've got, as in, Keep your friends in and your enemies out!
Communication is essential. Without communication you're fighting under a huge handicap - call out everything important. Which enemy to attack, which enemy is CCd, which one cannot cast because they're silenced, et cetera.
The ultimate goal of an arena match is to make one person dead. After that, the odds change and the most frequent outcome is a loss for that team. There are basically 3 ways to make this happen:
1) Bum rush the healer. Healers have a hard time healing themselves while they're being focused, since revealing a cast bar means you're going to get locked out of your healing tree and lose all the associated tools. Your teammates will have to save you from this by peeling the dps off you while you run out of LOS and heal up. Don't wait until 1% to bubble if there's a priest on the other team.
2) Control the healer while you bum rush a DPS. Pallies are pretty resilient against this tactic, since so many forms of CC break on damage - HoSac and DSac are your friends. HoP can save the day, but watch out for dispelling classes.
3) Attrition. Run the healer dry via Mortal Strike and constant target switching, or more generally by making the healer work on multiple targets simultaneously. It's hard to counter this tactic except by predicting the switch and gutting it before they build up momentum. Wizardcleave teams (usually UA lock + spriest dotting up everything in sight) are especially mean because they aren't exclusively damaging one target - and you're unable to dispel anything for fear of UAing yourself. If that weren't enough, your beneficial spells are constantly being devoured and dispelled; it's a really cruel setup. You almost have to nuke a team like this quickly because ticking dots on 3 targets will run you oom long before them.

Holy paladins are the most vulnerable against interupts and CC. You need a skilled partner that can put down massive amounts of pressure that has enough control to peel effectively when the paladin needs unmolested healing to catch up.
