If so,
a) how good is it?
b) Is it a good idea to try a twink from level 10 up to learn it before going into level 90 PvP? (I've got a level 90 prot already).
c) Is the best way to gear up by doing dungeons to earn JP to convert to honor or just going straight into bgs to earn honor without good gear?
Also are fury or prot viable?

Hello Bluesh34,
From my experience (as a Rogue), yes Arms is very viable for PvP. As a Rogue there's not much else more horrifying than an Arms Warrior stomping on my face. Get yourself a good PvP healer, keep them protected and you'll be laughing. Bladestorm and Bloodbath really leave the PvP grounds in a nice bloody mess. Also with multiple leaps and charge abilities, you're able to catch up with almost any flag carrier, then it's just a case of stunning and pummelling them into the ground.
Personally I would say play it as your level 90. Answering the other questions too, just do PvP in your Prot and Fury gear (assuming you have that). Any Flag carry game or Alterac Valley go Prot, all the others just wing it as Fury until you've the gear to change over.
Some good guides here for you.

That's great Dave: thanks. Only thing is I don't have the gear for my prot yet, so I'd also be interested in hearing your thoughts on c) for arms fury and prot. I can only have 2 specs at most tho can't I, or can I have all 3 on one toon? I guess u mean reset class spec, no?

You're most welcome always happy to help. That is correct, you can only have 2 specs on one character. My advice on how I would play my level 90 Warrior would be one spec Arms for PvP and the other Prot for PvE. Even without good gear as Prot, you'll probably have more health than most so still makes capture the flag games viable.
Personally on my Warrior (he's only level 64 but I've PvP'd with him for many years as a twink, he even has the old PvP title of Sergeant) I was Arms for PvP and all I remember from those days was laughing manically at the computer as I charged from person to person murderising them.
I would also advise reading these

, to convert Justice Points you spend 500 JP for 250HP so you're losing out a lot. When I hit 90 I had 4k Honor and 4k Justice so I just maxed out. If you're new to PvP my only advice is be prepared for stuns, fear and other such effects, keep them in mind when making your build.
So to conclude my rambling, I would personally go Arms/Prot, PvP to get your items (maybe get a PvE shield), and be prepared to die much more than PvE but you'll have a lot more fun getting revenge once you're running around with a giant two handed weapon executing people.

lol. That reminds me of playing rogue.
Maybe I'll just get the weapon from JP conversion.
Thanks again.

As a 560 prot warrior, I find dungeon queues are not only instant, but that I can solo any Pandaria heroic dungeon regardless of what the rest of my group is doing in around 10 minutes (Gate of the Setting Sun, which allows you to skip nearly 3/4ths of the trash) to 25 minutes (Shado-Pan Monastery). This works out to somewhere in the vicinity of 3000~ JP in an hour; or 1500 Honor.
Even when I was 500 in Timeless gear, I would run Heroics for JP and convert to Honor for 522 gear, as my dungeon runs were not significantly slower - depending on whether my group was all fresh 90s or not. Something in the area of perhaps a thousand honor per hour. The average battleground gives ~450 honor per win, half that much per loss (Sometimes dramatically less!). The average BG, for me on my server HyjalUS, takes 15 minutes to complete and 5 minutes to queue up for. Assuming you win half your BGs (which also assumes you're not queueing for AV, as I am horde and the ratio is much closer to 25% wins for AV, perhaps less), that's around 20~ minutes for an average of 350 honor, or around 1100~ honor per hour.
Despite the 500JP to 250HP conversion rate, I believe you can make JP more than twice as fast as honor as a tank, even if you're only iLevel 500 or so. I recommend you do so until you can get your PvP trinket and a 522 PvP greatsword/greataxe. Once you have these two essential components for PvP, you can start making enough of a difference on BGs to begin to skew that win rate above 50%; at which point running BGs may become more effective than farming JP > HP, although I suspect not.

Well thanks for that.

Bloody hell: that's high! I'm Alliance and Horde ain't won an AV in time that I've been in.

I'll start with your last question first, Fury and Prot are junk for level 90 PvP.
A) It's the only viable plate dps in 3s and you'll be hardpressed to find a top rated RBG team without a Warrior.
B) No, just start at 90.
C) The best way to gear is to do the Isle of Thunder and Grizzly Hill PvP Dailies, do WG and TB, and do VoA25. After that get your one CTA/Random win in for the day. Once that is all completed convert JP to honor.
