How long does a mob last with an item on before dissapearing

I'm actually at Stratholme with 2 22 slots bags full of runecloth and similar greys from the zone. I started the stopwatch and disabled the autoloot option and crossed a random zombie with bone fragments (white) and some runecloth (white too): it dissapeared within 5 minutes, another zombie had a BoE green and i dissapeared after some minutes.
At the moment i'm testing with another plagued zombie which has Shadowcraft Bracers on, i would like to see when dissapears so i can get an idea if BoPs and BoEs last more on the corpse before looting, later i'll tell you why i'm doing this

Why are you keeping similar Grey's in your bags?

I've always believed in the back of my mind that if no one has even looked at the loot on a corpse yet, it'll last longer, but I have never tested this.

ok, after some testing and research, i can say:
Grey
: 2 minutes
White
: 2 minutes
Green
: 5 minutes
Blue and beyond
: +2 hours
- This timers start running from the moment the mob dies
- Reclicking on the mob even without looting will
reset
this timers
I was looking for some items to farm my reputation to exalted with Shen'Dralar and as looting was soooo time absorbing I decided to see if there was a way to filter the quantity of mobs to click for loot.
Meaning that you can get to Stratholme and do a every-single-mob-in-the-instance pull, then kill them, go for coffee and when you come back only the mobs with blues, epic and legendary items (i know i know) on them will remain in the floor.
This could be handy for people trying to farm Pristine Black Diamonds which drop from most mobs in level 60 instances. Keep in mind that when comes to green quality items; quest greens items are included, such as DM North Shackle Keys or Frayed Abomination Stitchings so you have only less than 5 minutes to get them after you kill them.
There's more for your information. After you kill and click a mob for loot and let's say it has a Libram of Focus, the "mob vanishing timer" starts from the moment you click the mob, so, let's say you have already a Libram of Focus on your bag and you can't loot that one it's just dropped since they are unique (so pesky when that happens) then you got 3 options
a) set up a Moll-E or Argent Squire and send the one on your bags to your mule alt
b) sprint the a$$ to Shen'dralar quarters within the instance and turn the Libram of Focus quest and run back to the mob before if goes vanished to get the 2nd libram
c) call a buddy or someone around Feralas, invite him/her to your group and let it come to the instance, once inside let him locate you and you will hand him/her the Libram on your bags and you quickly loot the one on the mob.
Something you can do while option C happens is to go kill something else and click to loot the mob again, this will reset the vanishing timer.
Another thing is that the mobs will dissappear timely regarding the quality of the item they have EVEN WITHOUT checking what's its loot. Let's put we have a Bile Spewer you killed but didnt loot, inside has a Belt of Valor on it. You go kill the Baron without noticing and on the way back you still will see the stars from the Spewer's corpse but probably you won't see the other abomination's corpses which just dropped ichor of undeath and worms, so don't panic.
I hope this helps : ) and sorry for my English shortcoming/strangeness

there is a faster way :P Right click on your portrair and enable pass on loot. Only mobs with greens+ will be looted :)

For one, you can only enable that option if you are in a group with something other than Free For All enabled. And for two, there are many greens that the OP may simply not care about (Abomination Skins come to mind) that drop off nearly every mob.

You know how stupid that is? Spend 2minutes more on looting and you make an extra 200-300g.

You are correct, vendor trash and whites can stack up to give off some pretty nice gold in your pocket. But say your running a guildmate or just want to AH or D/E the blues and greens.
Your low lvl friend surely just came for XP/ blue+ drops. Saves you some time when you get that, " Holy crap! This trash mob just droped _________! (Fill in the blank) Instead of looting every single mob and hope you get lucky, then before you know it, his bags are full. I still remember when my Skull Flame Shield droped from a random mob in a run through, when my bags were full of junk.
Anyways, Nice research here man, would have never though of, or known that they had individual loot timers for the qualitys of the iteam. ;)

Spend 2minutes more on looting.
In my bags I use to carry every kind of junk specially for a dual specced hybrid, leaving just 2 bags of 22 slots free.
If you have experienced what soloing Stratholme is; you will know that just half the undead side will fill you completely with every kind of grey-white-green item. Actually I used to run out of the instance through the back door, put the
Mammoth
and get back in for more junk - just to have my bags refilled before killing the Baron. I had even stopped for minutes to wrap all the Runecloth into
brown party toilet paper
to profit a little more per stack vendored and completed the Twill set over 5 times : (
But it was so time consuming - not to mention boring. Then I decided to skip looting due to space reasons and time economy.
When farming for Pristine Black Diamonds and all your bank toons completely full to top, with a terrible bunch of idiots auctioning the Runecloth at 1g the stack BO, and no active alts which can make use of them I stopped looting, if I do i just grab the silvers.
Trust me, is not laziness/stupidity anymore.

(oh! and then jump to the living side which is
much
worse lol)
