It is legit in that it talks about a feature of the game that's real:

Looks like he sent you a scroll of resurrection...
Have you not been subscribed for a while? And did you use John as you name for battle net?

just log into your battle.net account and see if there's a scroll of resurection there :)

Did you copy the contents of the mail here or type them in yourself? If you copy pasted, then it is a fake. This line proves it. If you typed it in, adding a line like this when asking if it is real/not real makes it look fake.
If you are really concerned, go to battle.net and log into your previous account to see if there really is a Scroll of Resurrection. You can also call your friend and verify he sent the invite.

If you send an invite, you can type in your own invite. With my friend, I typed something really vulgar that I can't even put here :)

Dunno. I always just send the stock messages on stuff like that.

Yeah, any SOR or RAF invite sent through battle.net, you type in your reason why you want your friend to come to, or back to, Azeroth.

Was thinking the same thing myself when I read this. If he did copy and pasted it himself. If he typed it he should check his battle net account to see if he had been sent a scroll. funny they should mention the monk's though. Wasent this offer on before mist's? thought they had discontinued it.
As far as I heard you have to be an old member of wow to be able to make use of this offer. As in quit before a cert in date

Just make sure the links are for the actual wow website if you are worried. But that looks legit without the links.
Just don't click links. Ever.

Best advice you could give anyone. Whenever i get links like this say for paypal or e bay I never click on the links in case its a scam. Instead i go to the websites directly and see from there if theres a problem or not. Near %99 of the time there never is
