I will crush her rebellion. I will obliterate it, swiftly, without remorse, nor sympathy. She will have no ally to turn to. When she is broken down, and malleable, then we will work on rebuilding.
I'm a little scared.
Same. That seems really wrong to me. Of course...

As intolerant of rebellion as I am, I am equally encouraging of productive growth. If my child does something positive, I am the first to reward, the first to build, the first to applaud.
I did, after all, purchase a Hawaiian cruise for her for getting straight As.
I am consistent. Bad behavior = bad consequences. Good behavior = good consequences.Your kid says "I don't want to live with you, you're not my real dad", there are probably a lot of issues that need to be solved.
There is nothing unnormal at that. Its part of being child. Oh you don't know how many times I have said that. She is 14 right? It's part of Teenhood (or adolescence not sure if right word). Every kid says that. Theres something wrong if the don't say that. As a teen I know some of these things. I also read child psychology in school. It's part of teenhood.
Yeah, I took college level lifespan psychology. It's completely normal. Only amateurs are stunned by it.
I wonder how Elura would have turned out differently if I had parented her...

I don't know MyTies' daughter's situation, but my mom remarried ~7 years after my dad died and she would
never, ever
expect me to come to love my step-dad. Respect, of course. But never see him as a replacement or substitute for my real dad. I can completely understand a feeling of resentment towards a step-parent, even if it's fake or whatever.

I'm surprised by how much
lifestyle
psychology people seem to be taking, and why that somehow should be believed over psych literature by people who spend their lives working in the field.
You know, there are no such thing as imaginary numbers, because I learned that in high school.

Well Mytie my parents did a great job raising me. I'm probably the most respectful child ever and I have never been in to any sort of trouble. My issues are all clinical.
I don't question how your parents raised you, because I don't know. That's not what I was trying to suggest. You said you were "scared" by what I said. If you had been raised by me, you would have a different understanding of tough love, that's all I'm saying.

From this moment forward, she will consider the consequences of trying to manipulate others, especially the ones that she loves. I will not stand for it. Period.I am really interested in hearing how this works out.

And I don't think everything a teen does should be written off as "teen behavior" because you might miss something important. True. Individuals psyche matters too.
What? Bull%^&*. =D

Well, my daughter loves me. She doesn't like me, though. I mean, what is love? It's work. It's patience, kindness, temperance, believing, bearing, everlasting. These things my daughter has for me, so I know she loves me. That's not really the issue. The issue is that she would say otherwise, for the goal of gaining power in the relationship. That's not healthy.

What is CISPA, and why is that thread locked?
Apparently CISPA got passed, so the freedom of speech thread got censored out.I don't think it did. I certainly can't find anything about it passing. It was reintroduced to the House on February 13th, but even if it passed there, it still has to go through the Senate and the President, who will most certainly veto it.

oh
just never phrased in a way that ceaser might have phrased it
It isn't my daughter that I want to conquor. It isn't her mind that I want to rule. I just want to stamp out the maliciousness that grows in the minds of teenagers. I love her, unequivocally, and totally. For that reason, I loathe anything that causes her to feel hatred, or strife. It is that "rebellion" that I talk about in my first sentence. I don't want to crush
her
. I want to crush her
rebellion
. I am certain that she will be happier without rebelling against her parents. It is due to my desire for her happiness, out of my love for her, that I expect nothing less than exceptional behavior from her.

Usually I go too far but this time you did...
Expressing opinion =/= going too far. Calm down.
ANYWAY, I'm not a parent. Even if I was, I wouldn't presume to tell someone how to parent their child. It's interesting learning about how people want their children to grow up and how they deal with stuff like this.

Well, either I am wrong and you all are right, and she was forced to weed the garden, and stop posting on facebook, unjustly, and due to that she will forever be scarred for life (sarcasm), OR I am right and you all are wrong, and her lashing out at me will be disciplined out of her.
Either way, I got my garden weeded, and she'll be just fine. Sounds win-win to me.
