So I was sitting in SW today and saw someone yelling about the 'rolling' game. I was at a casino over the weekend and had a thought.
With the BMAH, do you think they could add an underground casino area run by goblins? And if so would you use it if you could bet anywhere from 1g to a couple thousand or more?
Personally I probably would. I used to always spend my neopoints on those slot machines and I like it but I also know my limits.
So what about you?

I don't think it's something Blizzard would implement, mainly because it would get lots of negative press to do with gambling / addiction in a game openly available to young adults etc, etc.
I think funding it would be odd as well, obviously putting gold in from 'the house' would screw server economies royally and I don't think there would be enough player to interest for just player money to drive it to a point of being worthwhile.

If the player can lose money to the house, and if you lose money on average (like with real casinos), then it could actually function as a gold sink.

I don't think you'll see any type of gambling in game just because it's not what Blizzard wants to promote.

Edit: For some reason this reminded me that something of this nature is against the ToC, if I remember right. As in, the actual rolling game is against the rules? I don't remember; maybe someone else does.
I believe the issues were with
players
running gambling rings like this, because there's just too much incentive for fraud, which means more GM tickets to fill up the already-glacial queues.
Obviously Blizzard can make their own rules when it comes to what systems they implement. But I don't think it's an element they want to see in their game, much as it would amuse me personally.

It depends on which region you're in. In Europe it's strictly against the Terms of Use and it's also illegal in some countries (you have to be at least 18 years of age to gamble and it falls under this law) in Europe, thus it's forbidden. In the US, last time I checked, it is allowed to gamble, however it is not allowed to advertise it.
It is, however, allowed to "gamble" (make bets) on duels in both regions since it's entirely based around skills, and not a random chance factor.

In EQII they have this at areas where you wait -- like by docks. Something to do while waiting for the ship. It's location ensures players play for a couple minutes only before departing.
