Blood DK dps

Just want someone else's point of view.
I want to start playing my DK again and I know blood is the only viable tanking spec. I was thinking of trying this out as a dps spec using something like
this
the idea being to go for a dps spec DK that can OT if need be.
Got the idea after stopping a wipe with enhance shammy tuanting and, well, tanked a few mobs after tank died.
Needless to say I will be using frost pressence, if I should use Unholy pressance I will prolly change the glyph of bone shield to glyph of rune tap...
If I do go for this setup I wont be gearing for mastery since the main idea will be dps

If you want to DPS, off-spec as Frost or Unholy.
Blood is a tank spec, every bonus for this spec is meant to be used in blood presence while tanking, you'll get less than half of DPS of the other 2 spec (and only if you get Vengeance, and to get that you need to be hit, like a tank...)
It's not that useful to create a spec that rely on Tank death to do something
good
so-and-so and BTW you can survive in bad situation even as a DPS

You wouldn't go prot DPS on warriors why would you do the same for DKs? Just because Blood used to be a DPS specc does not mean it can be used now as a DPS specc. It would not be viable at all. This is why dual specc was introduced, so you can have versatility. I know that many like to have 1 PvP and 1 PvE specc, but you need to choose and pick what you want more I'm afraid. And imo a DPS with no tank specc is better than a DPS with minimal DPS and a subpar offtank versatility.
These are my thoughts, hope they helped, in no way do I want to offend, just stating what's on my mind.

While its true that being able to save the group in one click is handy, imagine how the pull wouldve went if you did twice the dps and had cc. Also, speccing purely for the rare case that wipes are due to tank fail is kinda... a waste of the rest of the groups time. Also, frost/unholy can go BP and offtank aswell in time of need.
So yeah, you could do it, but its not a good idea, and if I got a blood dps dk in my group and he did 9k dps, i'd kick him. Doing 9k dps isnt that much of a deal, but if theres an easy solution(dont dps as blood) it is for me.

^ Pro.
We're still working out the optimal rotation what with the new change to Death Strike though.

Thanks for the feedback. Won't try and raid in the spec, but going to try the 5 mans. If I see that I'm failing will go back to frost as I'm used to frost spec.

Okay, so basically what you want to do for Blood DPS:
Stat Priority
:
Strength
Hit to Cap
Expertise to Cap
Haste
Crit
Mastery, Dodge, and Parry give you no bonus whatsoever.
Spec
: Your spec was pretty good, however take out the point in WoTN and stick it in Runic Power Mastery. Replace Glyph of DnD with Glyph of Death Coil.
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#jbGhcsbrzsdoZchc:R0ssmzM0
Priority
:
1. Bone Shield (if it's going to have a long duration, and not get eaten to quickly).
2. Dancing Rune Weapon (If Outbreak is off cooldown, and you have four death runes and two blood runes, ERW helps)
3. Diseases
4. Death Strike (If you have a pair of Unholy and Frost Runes,
NOT
Death Runes).
5. Rune Strike (if it's up for who knows why.)
6. Death Coil (if near RP capped)
7. Heart Strike
8. Crimson Scourge BB proc.
9. Death Coil

Dude, if someone does less dps because his gear is at the bottom level and hes new to the game, but he has read some guides and atleast DOES HIS BEST, im not kicking him. But Ill list the reasons why I(capital I here, these are MY reasons, they are not by any means sound or fair):
:He insults my ability to tank by assuming theres a need for him to jump in if I die. I dont die in 5mans, unless none of the dps cc etc(owait, blood cant cc - see, another reason)
Hes doing something suboptimal for no reason at all. If someone is in full SP gems and DW unholy, he gets the kick as well - being blood dps is equal to slacking, for me.
Because 5mans arent hard, for me its the intend that counts, mostly - anyone with a good intend can do 10k dps in crappy gear, but if you do 10k in good gear,I'll call you out on it and if its because youre deliberately nerfing yourself....

Wait, you killed the pulls with 2bears/medic/axe or 2flamecaster/X/X without cc? /clap. And thc=win for adding 10seconds to a cc that breaks prematurely(mage sheeps, other mage shoots pyro... yay pugs). Unholy can stun. Yeah, thats not much, and blood can offtank - but remember that killing a mob twice as fast counts for a lot too.
Having a shadow priest healing is an ENTIRELY different matter. If you dont wipe, its actually better, as he can also do a little bit of extra dps - however, a blood dps is the opposite - its only good if you wipe, in which case I'd worry about being a little more serious about your group play.
Also, someone doing epic dps and cc's interrupts like a boss wont die to easy stuff, unless hes slacking or making a mistake. The former is the same as going blood for dps, and the latter is what it is - an accident.
With your friends, in a full group of 5, you can do whatever the ^&*! you want. In my group, however, you do performance that matches your gear and experience, or we all agree its going to be a laid back run - slackers just arent welcome. And blood dps is slacking.

I would prefer a 20k DPS Frost DK over a 10k DPS blood DK anyday, providing that they are both not retarded. Blood is not meant to be a DPS specc. Just like Prot for Warriors and Paladins. You don't see warriors DPSing in Prot.
On the other hand if you are a 5man premade and everyone is cool with it you can go whatever you like. Otherwise I would not like to waste the other 4 guys' time. If a Blood DK DPSed in a group I was in I would kick him (after seeing his dps ofc). My time is limited and not to be wasted on one heroic.

Feedback on my experiance.
DPS is lower, I can feel it. Out of 3 runs I've done I found it worth it to be blood in 2 of the cases. 1st case there was an overpull and healer couldnt keep tank up so I took a few mobs from him and things went smooth from there onwards... except tank wanted me to help him tank all the time so the other 2 could aoe mad .... Did not like that idea...
2nd case tank was... well... noobish. Didnt know tacts so he would tank mobs in healing areas, where they are imune to spells etc. So did the positioning to the tanks disliking.... but he caught up whats going on soon enough

I found this thread quite funny tbh, I have personally kicked a fury warrior before averaging 18k dps because he was an arrogant twat and started pulling mobs and then intervening the hunter trying to make it look like the hunter pulled. He was replaced by a mage who barely nudged 8k dps but you know what, the mage didn't have an attitude and if I told them something they listened.
Can you complete heroics as a blood dk dpsing... sure why not. Should you be blood in the first place for the sole purpose of offtanking (that can be comfortably done by a frost or unholy dk in the short term) no.
Slightly different scenario but I was on my feral druid (cat spec) in ZA and for some reason or another the tank managed to eat a
Afflux
and need less to say dropped like a sack of...
So I jumped into bear form and tanked the boss from 70% to dead (b res was on cd from trash because I use it liberally in 5mans to keep a run fluid with as little down time as possible (lets be honest it shouldn't be needed to avert a wipe in a 5man)) without a single issue (yes I rotated cd's but thats to be expected if your vulnerable to crits).
I do note this is a different scenario given that cats have reasonable avoidance even in cat spec the point is that while missing 18% decreased damage taken, a couple of % dodge and crit immunity it was still perfectly possible.
In conclusion if you choose to dps as blood in 5mans nobody can stop you, that is the simple nature of the LFD system, some may choose to boot you, some may decide its not worth the being out of combat for a minute.
However the general consensus is that people will think your insulting the tank firstly, and secondly your just dead weight. Remember it takes 12 seconds to change specs between combat if needed (fail tank ect.).
