I use two 1.80s, biggers muts and that where its all coming from, so much cc, i dont focus on damage, i focus on keeping them busy and cc'd, while my partner damages. I roll with a hunter and we have zero problems.

I greatly disagree with the guide listed abov for pvp, since it obviously shows not much pvp experience.
This made me lol.
In nearly all arenas, especially 2's, and most other aspects of pvp, you don't have time or room for envenom, or tons of whites.
This made me sad.
Two 1.80's is better imo. Makes mutilates hit higher, which is really all that hits
No.
I roll with a hunter and we have zero problems in any 2's match.
Once you get into ratings that aren't people expecting to lose 10 a week for points, this will change.
I focus on the cc, have people slowed, casts lengthened, and wounded, while they burst. Keep em stunned, blinded, gouged, disarmed, keep yourself healed, and keep rupture on them, so they take damage steadly.
If you're waiting for rupture to do your killing for you, any team with a healer just beat you. Rupture is important but it's not enough, and once you get up against teams that actually play to win (upper ratings), bouncing around and blowing all your cc while relying on your partner to do all the work is not going to win matches.
tldr:I Caperon is a smart person, taking advice from folks like him and goshad have made me fairly successful as an arena rogue for a very long time. You might want to make sure you actually know what you're talking about before giving terrible advice and putting down the works of others.

I've always wondered about that, i'm fairly new to pvp and i'm a little unclear as to what our roles are at the moment. with stunlocking a thing of the past, is our job now to burn someone down as fast as possible before they burn us? or is it purely to control the fight so others can, at the cost of our own damage being sliced in half, burn them down easier?
sorry for hijacking the thread by the way, just figured it was relevant-ish
We fill both roles, honestly. Getting a sap off at the beginning of the match is a very important part of the arena rogue's role, and chaining in combat CC to set up a kill is also an incredibly strong aspect, but our own burst along with our ability to debilitate the burn target cannot be ignored in favor of button-mash-and-hope-for-the-best. Exactly how you will play your guy can and will vary depending on what the rest of your team looks like and of course the team you're against, which is where practice and communication become important.
Caperon's guide is very solid and explains the reasons why you'll want to take x talent and use y ability, give it a read and allow yourself to consider the situations in which you'd use that particular tool.

Lol, just lol.

Rogues still play a control roll, since cheapshot sharing dr with kidney shot wasnt really a deadblow.
Mostly because the new opener switched over to the (buffed) garrote and the removal of talents that reduce stuns.

Get Recount and look at where your damage is coming from. You're a poison rogue, not a mutilate rogue.
