I don't really care about all that censorship hoo-ha I've read about.
What horrifies me are the screenshots I've seen of low level starting areas flooded with hundreds of characters. Can you imagine trying to start a character and having to compete with more players for kills then there are mobs to kill?
I'm sure it'll all cool down in time, but still. The lag alone would be enough to bring most computers to their knees.

Thats pretty much any server release, anywhere in the world for WoW.
I've played 3-4 now and its always flat out.

I don't know. I started characters on the servers Cairne and Ghostlands when they were new. While it is crowded, it's nothing like what I've seen on these Chinese servers.

I logged in (on a US East Coast server) the day WoW went live and for the first few weeks it was a mess. It took me, no joke, about a week to reach level 10. Back then, there were not a lot of servers. Each one was flooded with a boat load of players, all doing the same quests. This meant you had to wait in line to kill mobs. In short, it just took a while to do anything at first. Then as players reached The Barrens and started to spread out more, it cooled down and made questing a little easier.
I'm assuming it is the same on these Chinese servers? A huge amount of people all in one small area at first, then as they progress, they spread out more which makes things feel a little less congested. I would hope that's what happens at least.

Do you happen to have and pictures of these Chinese servers? I'm too lazy to Google them.

Dynamic spawn rates.
Unless something changed, original Azeroth doesn't have dynamic spawn tables.
Only TBC+.

I've seen the pictures, it's like the BE and Draenei starting areas on the BC release date, only 20x more crowded and without the uuber fast respawns. >_>
I think that like everyone has said, that eventually things will start to spread out. I think Barrens will still be a bit crowded, but from there you have quite a few places you can go, so I think around level 24 things will start getting less crazy for them.

Ah, another Cairne person. I had the joyous luck to start the game on the day the server opened. Not realizing this, I was amazed to see the carpet of dead nelfs who had just exited the starting area and picked on an owl 3 levels above them.
That's true with any server. I recall starting a night elf on a new server and seeing the ground carpeted with skeletons of people who had walked off the giant tree.

unless they're on higher capacity servers there should be NO difference to any capped server. Isn't 5k the logged cap?
Not sure what the log in cap is, but think of it this way:
The same amount of people on as on a regular server, but all the same(ish) level. It would be torture.

Hopefully Chinese players will be headed back to Northrend before long.
Did he just say that? Oh, he meant on Chinese servers. Gotcha. Seems there's plenty of them on my server, and they're all running around WG stealing my titanium nodes and then floating off into the air on their winged shoes or some %^&*.
