Almost any information you could get from a guide you pay for, you could get from somewhere else for free.

Don't ever waste money or download on leveling guides; they are useless.

I have and do use Zygor's Guides at times. They are very handy navigating a new/newer player around the large continents of the games. Steps are very detailed in what to do and how to accomplish them. Also there are plenty of times I turn it off and find myself referring to Wowhead for directions, screenshots, and general quest advice. Zygor content is updated often and you need to keep downloading the newer content as it becomes available or your instructions and maps may become out of whack so to say.
If you are a new player you should be figuring the game out on your own, not simply figuring out the fastest way to collect 10 bear asses to get to the next level. If you aren't a new player, you already know the fastest way to collect those 10 bear asses. I don't understand why anyone would pay for something like Zygor.

I tried it out - mostly out of curiosity, and really - it's a mixed bag.
It's pretty lacking on area-style quests - as those blue areas from the Blizzard quest tracker come in handy. It does seem to handle which quests to pick up, and which to ignore pretty well, which - for me (even after having 6 characters over 85) was always tricky - considering I'd be more likely to just pick up everything and continue questing in an area until I ran out of quests. The auto quest accept, and quest reward highlighting is pretty handy as well. Also, the UI doesn't really help most of the time when you can accomplish certain tasks on the way to others. For instance, if you had to kill 8 wombats and pick up 10 bear asses in the same area - that it will do. But if you also had to pick up 5 whatsits off the ground in an area before that point, it won't clue you in until you're done with the wombats and the bears.
Beyond that - there's more than just the leveling guide - although, its reliability of the information and suggestions starts severely dropping off outside of the leveling bit. WoW professions seems to be a more reliable guide for profession leveling, and while it does a pretty good job at recognizing upgrades, it starts to break down severely when it comes to Heirlooms and MoP gear. For instance, I had to specifically replace a chest heirloom in Deepholm, and to decline its gear suggestion, because it kept thinking the lvl 80 heirloom chest was better than the normal gear that was dropping. In MoP especially, it kept trying to replace better gear with worse gear.
As far as my honest opinion - if it's worth paying...that much for? No. Nowhere close. Despite its attempt at being a "professional" system - it's no more, and often less polished and reliable than most of the popular free addons like DBM, Bartender, TomTom, etc.

Ah, I remember Joanna's guide.
Leveling back then was a total pain in the ass.

Maybe I will write a guide on how to identify good quest hubs and set up good quest circuits
1. Find heroes' call board
2. Fly to hub
3. ?
4. Profit

The benefit of the Zygor guide was that it told you which quests ran you across the zone and back without a decent reward of XP. The whole go to jons house to tell him I said hi for 45xp.

As far as the leveling concern zygor guides are legal to use.
Legal, but useless. Zygor charges you for information any other place gives you free, and besides that has been made obsolete by improvements in the game. If every place in town is offering you a free car wash, why would you choose the one place where you have to pay for it?

Most of the time, those so called "Guides" just tell you fairly obvious things that one can either easily find out for free elsewhere, or can be easily figured out by common sense.
I recall an old paid "power leveling" guide a guildie bought back in 2011, and was very proud of how "fast" he was going. When he saw me leveling an alt in a third of the time it took him, while only investing a moderate amount of time, he asked me what guide I used. I responded that I used none. He repplied by pointing me several of the "tips" he had gotten from his leveling guide to go faster.
Not only were they fairly obvious common sense stuff, my immediate response was "dude, I could had told you all of that for free".
IMO paying for guides on THIS game is a huge waste of money. There's a lot of resources, guides, databases, information, tips, and more available online (and without going so far, on this VERY SITE) for free that is just as good if not better than the so-called Paid Guides.
