Why is strength better than agility for cat dps?

I have seen this said numerous times in posts but I can't really figure out why. Is it true that feral dps cats want to gem/enchant strength and AP rather than agility? And if that's true wouldn't an enchant like berserking be better than mongoose for weapon?

And what are the current conversions for cats?
1 Str = ? AP
1 Agi = ? AP

not really sure what your point was tbh. but there are the gems your looking for. both are fully instituted into the game.
Not quite. They're in the game yes, but the recipies to make them aren't.
They're similar to
Purified Twilight Opal
in that they only have the uncommon quality version implemented.
Perfect Sovereign Shadow Crystal
Perfect Etched Huge Citrine
Are currently the best available.

100 agility = 116 AP & 1.2% crit. With Savage Roar, it becomes 162 AP & 1.2% crit.
100 strength = 233 AP & 0% crit. With Savage Roar, it becomes 326 AP & 0% crit.
The fact that reccommends gemming/enchanting for strength (and pure AP where strength is not an option) is Savage Roar itself. There is a close relation between AP and crit. They actually increase each other's value. But just as for Bear druids there is one stat that scales amazingly (stamina), so there is another one that scales just as nicely for Cat druids: attack power. Having strength instead of pure AP makes sure you also benefit the most from the Blessing of Kings in raids. Attack power helps EVERYTHING a Cat druid does: auto attacks, Mangle, Shred, Rake, Rip. In an optimal attack rotation, the DPS is distributed mainly between auto attacks (~33%), Shred (~26%), Rip (~19%) and Rake (~17%). The rest ~5% are from Mangle. You see thus that Bleeding Attacks hold a total of ~36% from a Cat's damage. They do NOT scale with crit, but they do scale much better with AP than the other attacks (normal, Shred and Mangle). Having more AP makes your crits hit harder and also your bleeds (which cannot crit) flow stronger. Also I have observed from my experience that now when I stand at ~7500 AP & 43% crit, I do more DPS than when I was at ~7100 AP % & 45% crit. To be more specific, adding 400 unbuffed AP at the cost of 2% crit has made my sustained DPS (over a period of at least 6 minutes, to include 2 Berserks) on a lvl 80 target dummy go from ~3200 to ~3300. Of course, luck plays a great role here, since both OOC and crit depend of a random generated number :P
PS: And I still have my weapon enchanted with Mongoose... I need to get a Berserker on it ASAP @_@

I understood why strenght is more important for a feral druid than agility, still, strenght doesnt gives crit rating, agility does!
Are you measuring that? i would like to know how much dps u do more if a feral druid chooses 100 strenght instead of 100agility
100 Str roughly equates to about 220 AP, 6% from SotF, 10% from Kings and add 40% AP bonus from SR and it will come out to about 360 AP total.
100 Agi + 6% + 10% = 162 AP
Do you see the differance now?

Not to mention that strength also scales as bear AP, while agility gives you only dodge and crit in bear.
