WAR is not awful. WAR is not amazing. It is adequately satisfying.
You know oddly enough this seems like a very accurate post and to be taken seriously.

The Public Quests in WAR are awesome. The ability to level purely through PvP is awesome (which WoW is now doing after 5 years of thought). The fact that the game is PvP based is also pretty awesome. The fact that there are no rep grinds that take what seems like forever is awesome. The graphics are a little more...sophisticated (Is that the right word?) than WoW. Not necessarily better, but just different. The classes are fun and different. The talent trees are set up much differently and are pretty interesting. You really have to dedicate to a single tree whereas in WoW you have a little more freedom.
I played WAR for a little while, but it never ran smooth on my laptop. Choppy gameplay is the only reason I stopped playing. Since then they have, I think, claimed to have resolved some of those issues but I just haven't reinstalled the game to find out.
All in all i thought it was a lot of fun. I dont think, nor did I ever think, it could challenge WoW in terms of subscriptions sold or activated, but it is a lot different in terms of mechanics and it's pretty fun if you have the time to give it a chance. I would recommend it.
As far as websites go,
www.wardb.com
is the only one I know of that is something similar to the awesome sauce that is Wowhead.
Hope that helps.

For challenging wow in terms of subscriptions, that is a very long shot. I doubt anything will challenge wow for a very long time.

Exactly.
I played it and loved it. Although PvP and RvR could get annoying at times. Some classes, like the Witch Elf, were OP at lower levels, but became harder to play at higher levels due to snare and such.
Disciple of Khaine was such an awesome class. I could solo Champions (similar to Elites in WoW) two levels higher than me.

pretty fun game if your inte PvP still lots of bugs though and playing on low pop servers ruins the exprience
and the orcs (orks?) are way more awsome
im gonna give it another try (3rd try) once i hear they have sorted out most of the bugs
