Unholy Death Knight BiS Weapons Query

I have searched the forums and can not find any mention of this so was wondering if you guys could shed some light on the matter.

When I am trying to find an upgrade for unholy dps , it ranks the Heroic Bryntroll fairly low down and a few 271 weapons higher. Now on Elietest Jerks they rank the Heroic Bryntroll as the 3rd BiS for the unholy spec. My DK class leader has said to me that this site is not taking in to account the proc which the weapon has.

When I have run sims with the Heroic Bryntroll and the Glorenzelg sword from LK the Axe is ahead by some 400dps. I understand that the higher the item level does not mean the better the item but I am very confussed by this. With unholy having 2 different sub specs would this have any influence in the difference between this site and EJ?

I would be greatfull if some light could be shed on this as I prefer using this site ALOT more than others. Because I own both weapons and due to my class leader telling me to use the Bryntroll , I want to make sure I am using the better item and if my class leader is wrong I would like a strong argument against it. Sorry to be a pest about this as I do love this site a great deal but I am sure you guys are just as egar to make sure any confussion is cleared up.

If you're talking about using our "Find Upgrades" search, then I'm afraid your class leader is correct.

There are two reasons for this. Firstly, the "find upgrades" search we have uses a stat ranking system broadly similar to Pawn. If you were using the "Find Upgrades" link on your character like so, you could use the "Show Details" link at the top to see what values are being used.

Unfortunately, because we're weighting stats and not actually doing dps calculations or simulations, we can't measure the effect of procs at all—meaning anything with a proc is going to be underreported. This unfortunately isn't something we can fix without drastically changing the scope of the project. For BiS items, EJ is a better resource—although we can still provide you with a general idea of what to look for.

The other reason is because there's currently a bug which is showing upgrades for Frost Tank DKs, when they should be showing upgrades for Unholy DPS DKs. You can fix that manually by selecting the right preset from the dropdown while we fix it. >.<

Thank you for replying to this as I respect you guys have a lot to do on the site.

At least I understand why there is the difference now and the best bit it makes sense why now. Oh well back to using the sodding axe I guess.
