Yeah they could of just left earth shock with nothing. But frost shock slows, flame shock does dot, earth shock has to do something really.
I think -10% physical damage done would of been allot more suitable. That would bring us in line with plate wearers and would help allot as our survivability sucks vs melee.
But no we we get -10% slow on melee swings, this is like -2% damage taken, its pure crap.

I am pretty sure there were already 2 or 3 threads asking this same question. It is defintely a buff, mostly for PvP. Many shamans have to hold back their shock usage to interrupt incoming spells in PvP, but now they will be free to use normal shocks far more frequently while still keeping their interrupt.
Big advantage, as a restoration shaman it means I'll be able to frost shock constantly without worrying about putting my interrupt on cooldown. Elemental shamans will be able to use flameshock/frostshock without worry, and enhance will still use earthshock to dps/debuff with.
Three questions on my end though that may make this slightly bittersweet:
Will the PvP glove bonus work for windshear?
Will Shamanistic Focus (45% of shock mana cost reduced) work for windshear?
Will windshear still be a 6 second cooldown spell?
It will be incredibly spammable, probably the best interrupt in the game so it may have that increased (it better not be).

Oh my bad then. The existence of the debuff is likely just a way of emulating thunderclap and the prot paladin judgement, as well as icy touch. It seems like many melee classes have the % attackspeed debuff, and my guess is that the earthshock debuff is another step towards homogenization for melee classes.

Or just a general, "Hey, you need a minor way of not getting your ass kicked by other melee classes, here ya go."

A 10% melee swing debuff will made no significant difference you wont even notice it. It needs to be -10% physical damage done.

i loved the interupt for a reason because casters were toe to toe with earth shock and grounding totem but i agree with valer at least give us enhance something better... or make malestrom weapon work with lava burst and make stormstike affect both fire and nature dmg and maybe frost idk just something better
Lavaburst did work with maelstrom weapon during the 3.0 PTR. They removed it because it was horribly overpowered, and enhance shamans were dealing far too much dps with it. Instant cast crit that works every 8 seconds...(btw, that is usually about how long it takes for 5 stacks of maelstrom) way too overpowered.

-10% attack speed, imo sucks.
I prefer something different on my shaman.
