Shaman Races
.
Wowwiki doesn't cite sources on this one. Strange, as they do for all the others.
Heh, aye it is weird... think I'll scrounge through my rp books tomorrow and see if I can find it there as well. But it does make sense, and explains why the other tribes have shaman-like members.

Attributing it to the Loa is what I expected, but the Loa aren't elements, and in the context of this discussion, Shaman were mostly communicating with elements.
I'd expect a Shadow Hunter to be a Shaman/Hunter/Priest hybrid.
They'd be part of the Wilds(as pretty much everything is part of the Wilds heh), and some of the Loa's would probably be representations of the different Elements.

that really isn't "Thrallish" at all, he would rather work, and also encourage others to work with him and empower them, rather than soak all the glory for himself (cough-tiron-cough)
Sorry, I couldn't let a statement like this just pass through.
Tirion is the wielder of probably the single most powerful anti-scourge weapon on the planet, and was dedicated to making sure that Arthas would be stopped
permanently
. He was actually on the ground doing the dirty work that needed to be done to accomplish the mission.
Thrall did little in Northrend except put in some "face time" in Dalaran and at the Argent tournament. Otherwise, he just threw Hellscream the Idiot in there (with Saurfang barely holding his leash) to screw things up.
Maybe if he had taken his "I-can-one-shot-a-necropolis" power up there and took care of business instead of sitting in Orgrimmar, things may have gone a hell of a lot smoother than it did.
yeah well if he did that there would be no raids in warcraft or even 5 mans. Think about it if the leaders and guards took care of every instance and raid (believe me when i say there is enough orc npcs to topple ice crown.) there would be nothing for the player to do.

why deny it? garrosh is BORING, talking about Thrall, shamanism, and even herpes is more entertaining.

Thrall isn't really more interesting imo. He's a cool guy, don't get me wrong, but he's BORING. He hasn't really done much recently for any attention really.
I'm kinda hoping for a change come Cataclysm, with his hands on work, but if not I won't really be surprised.

not recently, but previously he has done quite a lot, more than most of the current leaders actually.
ejemp....... he led personally the battle for the UC, went to the violet summit, to the argent tournament, showed up in nagrand to redeem grom's image to the mag'har, showed up in the instance of old hillsbrad, and on the hyjal instance.
that's more than can be said for the other 9 leaders of the game, who have been too busy polishing their nails to actually do stuff.
also, yhea this list is quite small, but may I remind you that while thrall hasn't done that much RECENTLY, he has done A LOT in the past :P wich is fun to talk about.

Varian's done more than Thrall has (in Northrend).
But like I said, he is boring because he hasn't done anything recently. I mean, I could talk about a lot of character's because of past things they did, but after awhile it just get's boring. Sure, there is a lot ot talk about with Thrall, but it's all been talked about multiple times.

I loved reading Thrall there. I really,
really
looking forward to the Cata book.
Oh and Thanodius, I get your point, and I think they should have had Thrall do more in WotLK (although you can technically lampshade his absence as "taking care of Horde stuff"), but it actually bugged me how little Tirion did in WotLK. Yeah, he was down and dirty, but he basically stood by and let the players handle
everything
.
On the way to Icecrown, he had us clear the way. At the Tournament (which was a friggin' moronic concept in the first place), he sat by and idly watched as we fought and Eredar Lord and Anub'arak come back from the dead (not to mention the way he let the Black Knight come in and kill the Silver Covenant/Sunreaver representative), and then in ICC, he, with his 13 million hitpoints, let our raid tanks, with their 50-60k hp go and take everything while he took his sweet time, up until the Lich King, upon which he was immediately frozen in the block of ice while we took out 90% of the Lich King's health, and then after he helped us kill the last 10% he got a solid gold statue in the middle of Dalaran.
I know a lot of it is just game mechanics, but since my guild keeps wiping in ICC while Tirion sits back with Garrosh (who at least gives us a buff), I can't help but feel resentful... :P

yeah can't deny the 'crushing the alliance' and 'punching infants' talk that garrosh always says get old after the second time.

Again blizzard has have us do something otherwise the would be no raids or instances,(as of right now 1 leader and 10 elite guards could wipe out 90% of the baddies.) but yeah i wanted to see more leader action in icc. No jaina, or slyvannis(learn to spell lol)or any of the other leaders.

Yes I have. Note the word "Recently"Meh, the Battle of Undercity was pretty epic.
And now we have Thrall literally holding the world together.
And that's not even taking into consideration whatever he's going to do in The Shattering, which has his Doomhammer on the cover.
A lot more interesting than anything Garrosh has done, imo.

actually varian has done about the same as thrall has in northrend, and zero in TBC and vainilla.
on northrend both varian and thrall only show up for the violet
fiasco
Summit, and for the tournament.
and skree pretty much nailed why I think Tirion doesn't really deserves the props, he made the organization but rarely did anything other than talk, he enters ICC and does nothing while we bust our backs and during the fight with the lich king he gets frozen and does nothing to help us.
conviniently he waits until AFTER the lich king kills us to break free of the ice and shatter frostmourne, the ghost of menethil rezzing us wasn't in his plan.
at least against Illidan, Maiev did more than just bark at him, she actually does DPS on that fight and sets traps, ditto for Kalegos and Aveena on the fight against Kil'jaeden and the same goes for Akama on the Black temple, and for the 4 keepers on ulduar. These were all fights in wich we had help and yet weren't face-roll mode fights.
it really would had been hard for tirion to actually put those 13k HP and ashbringer to action during ICC? howabout lending a hand against Jaraxxus or Anub'arak?
but Tirion really did very little exept soaking all the glory.

well, let's be fair here, Garrosh hasn't done anything major because he's a fairly new character, much like Varian who had to be retconned from a boring stereotypical royalty to a conan-wanna-be because let's face it, the pre-retcon varian was BORING with a capital B.
both the newer "wilder" version of varian, and the new "angrier" version of Garrosh are fairly new characters with less than 2 years since their introduction. I'm assuming eventually they will do something intresting, but both have the distinct disadvantage of being just Warriors, no magic at all.
in wow (at least lore-wise) Warrior<Magic. simple as that, a non-magical user will allways lose against the magic wielder (just look at how the mighty Mannoroth wasn't capable of harming Azshara, or how even the awesome Saurfang was unable to defeat his son when he was turned into a DK by the lich king)
people with magic, like Jaina, or Thrall, or Malfurion, or Rhonin, or Tirion, or Darion, or Sylvannas, or Tyrande, or Magni, or Vol'jin will allways have the upper hand against
muggles
non-magical people
