I'm also thinking maybe Blizzard could up the crit% chance on Shatter. I'd really appreciate 100% crit on frozen targets, but 75% would be fine I think, the rest would be covered with gear. I'm pretty damn sure blizzard has considered this ages and ages ago and damned it, but I honestly hate 4k shatter "bombs"
It'd be a start to helping frost dps too.

I have a very simple suggestion:
Remove Hypothermia
Rogues can double vanish and do much better than us in high rated arena at the moment. I think that removing Hypo would be a huge change to the 2v2 bracket for mages, the bracket we struggle in the most. Not to mention 2 common PvP classes can now remove iceblock (2 common classes which are currently
annihilating
arena).
That's my main idea but i have some others :<
Turn evocation into an Innervate.
I know alot of you just cringed at the thought of changing an iconic mage spell so drastically. But i for one am sick and tired of having to blow cooldowns and wait for a unique opportunity to start using Evocate. Only to have it pushed back by 50% in a single hit or being interrupted altogether.
Let us keep the iconic animation while the buff is active though. That would turn it from one iconic spell into another.
It would also work well because we have a dispel resist talent and a
tonne
of dispel fodder. Not to mention very few classes have a consistent PvP dispel. And if required we could simply hump a pillar for a few seconds.
Also i agree 100% that we need more haste valued PvP gear.
Lol why remove Hypothermia ? if u want to sit 20 sec in an iceblock your partner is 100 % going to flame you for slacking.
That is a totally useless boost.

I've seen a lot of complaining but very few good ideas to fix the pvp problems we will face. Post your ideas here.
My idea:
Arcane:
New talent/ability (1 point):
Brain power
: heals the caster for x (or x% of total health) instantly. 3 or 5 min cd. perhaps reduced by
this
. It would be pretty deep in the tree so Fire/Frost couldn't grab it.
Fire:
New talent/ability (1 point):
Raging Flames
: Burns the target severely, forcing them to drop their weapons, disarming the target for X seconds. (I'm not sure about the cooldown on this one.) This would be pretty deep in the tree so arcane/frost couldn't grab it.
Frost:
New Talent/ability (1 point):
Frozen Tenacity
: Reduces all damage taken by 20% for 15 seconds.
New Talent (2 points, chained to Frozen Tenacity): Increases the time of your Frozen Tenacity spell by 5/10 seconds, but reduces the damage reduction to 17/15%. Also conveniently placed near the bottom.
(also unsure of this CD.)
Edit: L2spell, fix.
you should work in blizzard man lol
your good at this i totaly agree with you.
So you actually agree to make mages totally OP with a healing potion plus a small pain supress ? gtfo and stop complaining about mages. The only classe's who need the boost is hunters and shamans in arena.

Not totally useless at all. And who said anything about sitting 20 seconds in iceblock? I can think of plenty of uses. Mostly in 2v2 where the match can often be over before hypothermia is gone. And in high CC enemy comps.
Or at least have hypothermia removed outside of arenas. If a pally can LoH and a DK can raise an army of ghouls then i see no real issue with having hypothermia removed outside of Arenas (at least).
It's not really a boost for mages in pvp if they remove Hypothermia from arena :)

All QQ no PEW PEW. Post an idea or stay off the page.
Wow, since you're being so eloquent and polite ...
In keeping with the idea of Arcane being Evasive, rather than outright mitigate damage
Arcane Legerdemain
3 Ranks
Reduces the cooldown of Blink by 1 second, and your mana shield has a 5% chance to absorb all damage negating mana loss. Additionally, you are able to see all players and mobs within 3 yards while Invisible.
Instead of adding new spells or talents, we improve existing ones. To make the Arcane mages more viable in PVP, we extend his survivability by making them harder to kill. Shorter cooldown on Blink helps with this, as well as the ability to see up to 10 yards while Invisible.
The change to mana shield is not to make it totally useful, but the make it more rewarding for using it, without making it exactly like Ice Barrier.

Thank you, I think it's a pretty nice contribution. and with all honesty, eloquence went out the window when I read the Mage Q&A. It shattered my mind, you know, trying to figure out why they mentioned buffing other classes on our Q&A.
have you read the lock's Q&A? they got a friggin novella of wonderfully in-depth information and plans and considerations and things they want to look at, or why they are leaving other things the way they are..
seriously.. i think they were just phoning it in when they realized the mage q&a was due.. i'm really more irritated with bliz after seeing all of these other classes are getting a ton of actual information, and i read ours... and i'm wondering... what happened to the A?

Frost mages need a haste pvp set.
OMFG, talk dirty to me some more.

Seriously, I'm thinking of starting a Troll Shaman for patch 3.2

What i'd really love is new passive ability (learnable at level 30):
Backwards runner: makes you able to run backwards without any speed penalty.
Reason: mages are designed as kiting class, however they can't cast spells while running away from someone because all our spells require us to face the enemy.
Oh and polymorph not healing target would be great also.
Yeah, bro, sry, but this is why the mage class isn't a gnub class. You're gonna have to learn to cast everything while one of your fingers is ALWAYS holding down a movement button. The only time you let your finger off one of your strafe buttons is to cast a frostbolt/arcblast/arcmissiles.

Frost:
New Talent/ability (1 point): Frozen Tenacity: Reduces all damage taken by 20% for 15 seconds.
New Talent (2 points, chained to Frozen Tenacity): Increases the time of your Frozen Tenacity spell by 5/10 seconds, but reduces the damage reduction to 17/15%. Also conveniently placed near the bottom.
(also unsure of this CD.)
So, talented that would mean a 3% damage reduction for 25 sec? I'm agreeing with you, but make the reduction 5/10% instead. The changes you've suggested are really good and should be implemented, but 3%? Why would I want to waste 3 talent points on that sort of "buff"?
Not being Wineadin here, just pointing out a obvious flaw in an otherwise perfect post.
