Running into a few snags based off the requirements/rules I am hoping to setup for it.
A tournament could take on a ton of different formats but basically I am just looking to add a little variety to the way the matches run.
- A person can use no more than a total 6 pets (a team Roster if you will) .
- Each match has 3 rounds, and round one and two have to be a different 3 pet group.
- IF round 3 was required, only pets who did not die in the first two rounds can be used.
The problem I see, being nothing more than duels, pets won't truly die, and will all be full health after a battle. so unless there is some form of reporting addon, we would be based on honor system for battles.
does anyone have any idea on a addon which will report friendly pets deaths? i guess a pet battle tournament addon?

Here is the current ruleset I have posted on our guild forums, and hoping this makes sense as well, any input would be greatly appreicated for clarification or anything else...

Open to guildies and here's Rules as I try and come up with them.
This is the first of the Pet Battles Series we are hosting this year.
Starting on May 7th, and being run on the first Thursday of every month to follow til interest fades we will be hosting this event.
We are hoping to come up with some great prizes to offer over the coming months, but as our first event prize Thangq has donated a Vial of Sands, which if you didn't know allows you to turn into a Sandstone Drake mount. We only ask, that if you do not have the mount currently and win the tournament, that you use it on yourself rather than placing it on the auction house =)
Rules may get amended at anytime to try and help level the playing field for all competitors.
Below this post, anyone hoping to participate must READ and AGREE to rules prior to the date of the tournament.
Each person will be allowed to use 6 pets for the tournament.
Each pet should be *level 25, and a represent a minimum of 3 pet families (ie: you can only have two pets that are from the Magic family).
Perferibly, 24 hours prior to the event starting on May 7th, your roster shall be submitted to me via guild fourm private message, please note pet name, level, family and pet quality. If you are not sure on how to determine this it can be seen by viewing the attachment. Hopefully this will help identify your pet from being a swapped one. Personally I have TWO Iron Starlette's in my Pet Journal, one is Rare: Destruction the other Rare: Power.
Via Private Message on Forum send the following formatted message for each pet you wish to use. replace the # key with a number 1 - 6. This does not mean that pets 1-3 are one group but simply helps you ensure you only select 6 pets.
Pet#:
Level:
Family:
Rare Quality:
EXAMPLE from my attached Pet Journal
Pet1: Clockwork Gnome
Level: 25
Family: Mechanical
Rare Quality: Speed
Each Match will be a best 2 of 3 - Once your match is over, you are permitted to use revive pets/bandages but not between rounds.
Round 1 - You use 3 of your battle pets
Round 2 - You have to use your other set of pets.
Round 1 - Should the need arise for a 3rd round you can only select pets which are still alive and at current health.
So if I were competing, and had the following selection of pets.
Clockwork Gnome | Eye of Observation | Pandaren Monk | Pengu | Sporeling Sprout | Abyssius
Round 1 I used - And Won, but lost a pet;
Clockwork Gnome | Pandaren Monk | Pengu
Round 2 I used - and Lost;
Eye of Observation | Sporeling Sprout | Abyssius
Round 3 I can use - upto 3 pets, at current health level.
Clockwork Gnome | Pandaren Monk
Both people are being held to the same standard, and chances are the 3rd round should be much shorter than the others as fewer pets will be available to the battle.
Again Revive Battle Pets, Battle Pets Bandage, and any other forms of healing your pets is NOT PERMITTED between rounds, BUT can be used AFTER THE MATCH is over to prepare for the next battle.
Once registration closes, 24 hours in advance, I will post rosters in this forum. I would like to do that 24 hours in advance due to trying to ensure the structure of the tournament will work. ie: we can't do a round robin tournament if we have 24 participants. so another tournament format/bracket system may have to be looked at. If a bracket system is used, we may have to /roll on slots in the event of bye to second tier.
if you have something you would like to donate as part of a prize please let me know as well via email.
* Minimum level pet to bring would be level 20, there would be a disadvantage to bringing a pet of this level given the nature of the tournament, but that decision is yours.
