Rare Battle Pets

I'm not certain if I'm posting this in the right section but, here goes. I think we've all either accidentally killed a rare battle pet or gone into battle, only to realize, we already have 3 and there's no room for that rare capture. Apparently, logging out doesn't refresh the fight anymore. Any cancellation seems to end any chance to get that second opportunity. I have discovered another way, by accident. I was mid-battle when I realized I couldn't capture my rare beast. I'd already been maxed because I kept an uncommon that I shouldn't have. Out of frustration, I walked away from the game and cooked some supper. When I came back, the battle was over, due to being AFK, I guess. However, the same pets were back and waiting for me to reinitiate. I deleted the extra culprit and captured my rare. I'm not certain if this will always work but, if it is the case, a lil patience might just help you get your rare. This could be especially useful against minfernal and unborn valkyr. It's better than camping all over again or flying all over Northrend for the sake of a few minutes idle time. I hope this helps somebody who thought all hope was lost. Edit: Confirmed today using AFK Warning addon. Took approximately 9 minutes and 30 secs AFK time for the pets to scatter. The rare minfernal was still up and ready for the taking. Happy hunting :)
Providing you don't kill any of them during the pet battle you can 'reset' a wild pet and its companions simply by resigning, and the exact same pet with the exact same companions will immediately respawn.
My guess is, and I've been thinking about it, Pets on the server are shared with every other player in WoW.
I say this because in doing a battle with a wild pet, you're not partaking in any other interfaces other than the battle itself. Others can see the battle take place while you see them from inside the battle.
I do wish that Rare's weren't shared with other players.. but it does make more sense as to why player A can find the rare while player B cannot.
