Eh... I don't see many fights that will allow you to do your 123 and watch TV at the same time. To name a few... you'll need to watch Ignis for his Flame Jets, XT for both bombs and Tantrum, Kologarn for Eye Beam, Auriaya for randomly random damage spikes, Hodir for movement, Mimiron for rockets and Napalm Shell...
If healing the tank only is boring, feel free to help with the DPS. Many of them will be taking damage.

Believe me Razorscale and FL in Ulduar is easy to heal but EVERYTHING else is a hell to heal. Tons of AOE from mobs tons of damage heck mimiron hits for like 20k a sec on tanks.

There are a couple of things that other people have touched on from your post that would lead to that whole "raiding is boring," mentality you seem to have going on.
1. You were tank healing. If your tank has decent gear and knows what he's doing, healing him is more or less uneventful. Good tanks make the healer's job easy - even more so when you've been in the place enough times to know when spike damage is imminent.
2. I take it you went with a geared group that's already been there a time or two. There's a
huge
difference between that and the learning/gearing up stage. You were carried. And I don't mean that as an insult - you said that you were a new 80, it's inevitable if you join a raiding group that has already progressed.
If you find tank healing boring, maybe you can request to watch the dps next time? The damage they take can be a little less predictable, and certainly keeping up with 10-25 health bars is more challenging than getting tunnel vision on one.

I dont get how you need to be on your toes in HC's but you fall asleep in raids (where the bosses hit crazily hard). Other way round for me, as previously said, try a harder boss if its boring for you :)
I can understand falling asleep in Naxx though, that place is literally dead now...

Just be glad you are not a Paladin healer.
They essentially have 2 buttons to push all night, and still can't be arsed to remember to buff the raid.
*cough*
Just be glad you aren't a troll poster
They essentially only read 2 posts in all thrads, and still can't give anything constructive to threads.
To the OP: You have tried the easy part of WotLK. Naxx, OS+0, Start of Uld is %^&* easy. Getting further into Uld where bosses hits for 15-20k and raid damage is awesome. Healing becomes a lot more hectic and fun.
No need to change to holy yet, since you haven't tried "real" content as Disc.

Step aside...sounds like the big guy on campus has spoken. Fact of the matter is ...
Exactly what I told Him/her. I am not the one who felt the need to publicly complain, making it sound alot like a bragging post. I mearly suggest, in a confrontaional way ,granted, that maybe they are missing the content that they are claiming to be looking for.
Blizzard has stated standard modes are for casual players and are much much easier than hard modes tuned to challege top players/guilds.
I never claimed myslef to have complete 99% of the hard modes. I just stated that if he/she has completed nearly all of them and still thinks the game is "watch TV easy", maybe they have a reason to complain/brag...
Op never said all content was "watch TV easy". He said the content he has done as DISC priest was "watch TV easy", since he were on tank healing and there was no real challenge.
Which is 100% true if you look at what he has wrote he did. (Part of naxx10 and First two of Uld10 + OS10)

I raid with ma prot pally and disc priest (sometimes dps with DK but not often).
Tbh DPS and tanking dont really get any less interesting the more you outgear a place as you can try new things/rotations etc etc. however when healing out geared content u have very little to do and it is boring. The only way to make it interesting is rly to cut out a healer and make him go dps.
By outgear i mean the raid group , NOT the individual

While i do understand the feeling of healing being boring under certain circumstances, i do get the feeling that you were ignoring much of what was happening around you, to make such a statement (especially the comparison with heroics being more interesting to heal, haha).
Yes, if everyone is overgeared and does their job well, there won't be much damage to heal and as such the healers job is going to be boring. I am bored out of my mind in heroics, and i was really surprised at the (relatively) low amount of damage when going from heroic ToC fights to normal ones (Beasts first boss mainly from what i've seen up till now).
However, when you do encounters that are actually challenging for the group, you will have to throw lots of heals around because both tanks and dps are going to be taking quite a lot of damage, with spikes here and there that you may be able to predict or not.
However, to actually find that challenge, there are two conditions :
- not being in content you totally overgear as a group (has already been touched upon)
- actually try to perform to your best : a healer is usually given a role, a priority task. Failing at that task is bad, but doing it, being bored (ie having GCDs and mana left to help on other tasks) and not doing it is performing to the minimum. That's what others have pointed at when asking wether other people in the raid were dying. ie in such a case you are yourself making your role boring by keeping a tunnel vision on your own main tasking and not doing anything else.
Since it seems you yourself weren't overgearing the instances, the only conclusion we can come with is that the others were mostly carrying you. On Razorscale for example, there are lots of random raid damage in the first phase, and probably 1 tank switch at least in the second. If you were only healing one tank and not looking out for the rest of the damage, then yes i guess it would be boring. That's your own fault though.
