I was wondering, you know you have the drop chance of an item from the mob. Are the quest item drop percentages worked out by the number of drops when someone has the quest, or just everyone?

Anyone who kills that specific mob, even if they aren't on a quest containing those mobs or their dropped items, is included. Hence, quest items aren't perfectly accurate.

Would it be possible to add the drop chance of the item for when people are on the quest?

I'll check and make sure, but I believe that the Looter doesn't have any way of knowing what quests are in your quest log at any given time, making this information difficult to gather.

That will need to change when you get the profiler up and running though, right?

Quest log listings isn't something we had planned to include in the profiler on release--we were moving in more of a CTProfiles kind of direction.

There must be some access to quest log information since there are all those addons like MonkeyQuest. Additionally, I believe CharacterProfiler grabs quest information, as one of the guild profile sites I have set up in the past used that data to make a list of group quests each member was on so you could easily see who to ask if they want to group up for quest x.

It isn't a matter of being able to log quests in general, it is the matter of having our
looter
being able to do so as well as compare it to what you are killing.

The issue, if I understand correctly, is that it's beyond the scope of most addons to be able to monitor drops under different conditions depending on whether or not you have the quest, and whether it's complete at the time.

I've had an addon before that when you picked up a quest item for a quest in my log it's written in party chat the name of the quest and how many of the items I have.. for example:
Badlands Reagent Run : Buzzard Gizzard 2 / 5
Surely that is picking up exactly what you need?

Hmm...Possible. I'll check and see if it can be done, my understanding of the system is pretty limited.

I thought that item dropped regardless of if you have the quest or not...
or was my comment irrelevent to the topic?
