They simply could have completed the raid on another character.
There are such things as alts you know.

There are two main reasons for people to say
Yes
, and still get the achievement.
They have done it on their Main or their Alt toons. It's a fairly easy fight, and even if you've done it once or twice, you may still not really understand why the stairs are a bad place to stand.
Whenever I PUG VoA after WG ends, I rarely care if all the people have done it. It's an easy enough fight for some not to have. I just usually prefer for the Tanks/Healers to all say yes, then we can always correct a DPS if they are doing something wrong during the fight.

Nest time it might be worth the few minutes to inspect a few peoples achievement lists.
I hate people that do this. Everyone has to do it for the first time and if you can never get in a run because you haven't done it, how are you meant to get it? Just tell them clearly what to do and they will do it. If they don't kicking from the group is easy and chances are its a dps which aren't exactly scarce.
I have to aggree it is so frustrating when your in Naxx gear and can MT 25 man naxx and have people look for the acievement for REG os then they kick me out when I don't have it. I follow with a /w linkingthe 25 man version with 1 d and find they have ignored me. I have had a good guild get disbanded because 99% of the people on the server badmouthed them and such.

I've run VoA several times... but have yet to hear what's so bad about the stairs? I'm melee dps, so I follow archavon anyways, but still, no stairs?

I think people started saying the stairs are bad because almost all ranged stayed up there and it get's hard for the healers if half the raid is getting hit by those rock shards
This is one of the reasons.
I don't know about now, but I remember in the beginning of WotLK, Archavon had a known bug that he sometimes evade-glitched for people on the top stairs, which was annoying since everyone had to leave and then re-enter and re-fight him. This has probably since been fixed though.

Let me get this straight. Someone assumed all players in the raid fully understood a concept because "most" of them acknowledged a question, but then did not explain any tactics?
I must beg to question who is really at fault for this incident. Not that it matters, :-/
i was doing 900dps apperently and they kicked me because of that
I think the best resolution would have been to retire for the night rather than drag down your entire raid. I have done it myself on many an occasion, but to each his own.

I've run VoA several times... but have yet to hear what's so bad about the stairs? I'm melee dps, so I follow archavon anyways, but still, no stairs? For a few weeks after the initial release of WotLK, he used to reset his hp when drawn out of his room. If someone was standing on the stairs, Archavon could jump on them and knock them outside, then follow them and reset.
That was fixed very soon but some people still seem to think he does it. It's not bad advice in general to not stand on the stairs (healing range and all that) but it doesn't really matter. I tend to point that out whenever someone starts shouting about it but I doubt they really notice.
