As a prot warrior I've never been able to beat a prot pally. They have heals, which puts us at a disadvantage, especially with Lay on Hands.

Having experienced this many times I will say that the paladin will always win (assuming similar gear level of course)
Between the passive healing S/JoL, quick flash heals and the ability to bubble+heal in an emergency the paladin just has more survivability and longevity than the warrior.
I can beat my friends prot pally but that is only because I have almost 10k more hp than him. the duel lasts forever so never attempt if you have somewhere to be in the next 20min lol

Most people on these forums see 'superior to' to mean 'will beat 1v1'.
You are going to have to rephrase your initial statement/question if you do not want this 'Prot pally will always beat a prot warrior' tower to continue.
For those of you who keep responding with the above, the OP already said that a prot pally would beat a prot warrior; that isn't the discussion. Please stop saying it, since that has been resolved.
Having only played a warrior for a short while (not prot), I will not be of a whole lot of use. That being said, it appears as though there are benefits to both classes. The ability of prot warrs to CC is extremely helpful against both caster and melee classes. The ability of prot paladins to heal along with minor CC (HoJ) is also very beneficial. This appears to be the main difference between them.
In respect to other classes, the prot warrior has a larger store of CC to use against them, but cannot heal. The pally has minor CC and the heals to overcome the lack of CC. In the end, I do not see a definite superior when looking at these two. What I do see is a preference: more CC or more healz. Both can be great and really useful, but I would not say that one is better than the other.

Prot paladins are just tough to kill. Prot warriors are tough to kill and
annoying
! Due to the better silences, frequent stuns, and spell reflect, prot warriors are clearly better for general PvP. In 1v1 they will lose to a paladin because healing > no healing.

In regards to stuns/interrupts and silences, they always outlast the diminishing returns from each of them, so in the end they can kill me before I can deal with them.

Prot Pally in healing gear is like infinite mp in 1on1 situation. Unless your also another class that can heal, you lose. Even if you are another class that can heal, you need to have pretty good mp regen, at which case you both really cant output enough damage to kill each other and someone wins only when the other overextends himself and messes up.
Prot War is strong vs melee, but loses to anyone that can heal. Doesn't offer enough damage to pressure a healer really. While the stuns are annoying, you wont be bursting down a healer even with chain silences/stuns/fear etc. At the same time, its also still susceptible to being kited by the anti-warrior class known as frost mage. Prot pally wont have as big an issue cause they can cure through it, and mage will oom way faster even with evocation. the tiny damage in between from stuns or ret aura will eventually pile up (If i can do this on resto druid with ONLY moonfire against a mage 1on1, a prot pally can do it also)
Prot warrior has more weaknesses. Classes that can't heal reliably will always have a few.
