Path of Frost for Siege of Boralus skip

Hey guys,
Wondering if any of you have also had issues with Path of Frost. I've noticed I can be running along the water and somehow randomly sink in, having taken no damage with no mobs around.
This becomes an important problem for Siege of Boralus. Every time I start Siege of Boralus with a mythic plus group, I hit Path of Frost assuming it will help everyone walk on water over the sharks to do the skip at the beginning.
But every single time, as I jump off the starting point into the water, it still dumps me in to swimming mode. It gives me the shark message, "The sharks smell blood, get out of the water!" As I spaz-hit the spacebar over and over to try and get on top of the water, I check my buffs: Path of Frost is active.
I get eaten by the sharks about 50% of the time and have to re-do it, making me look like one heck of a foolish DK right off the bat. The other 50% I'm somehow able to catch the top of the water and run across just in time.
I've tried it mounted and on foot with DA for speed. Same % chance of success either way.
It's frantic, stressful, and the hardest part of the whole dungeon to me, because it's so unpredictable.
What in the world is going on? Is this a glitch? Seems like Path of Frost isn't working correctly and costing me dungeon deaths at unnecessary times.
Would it work better if I had Inflatable Mount Shoes? As a DK I've never used them, as I prefer to always have Comfortable Rider's Barding. And switching out every time I want to do Siege seems silly (and slightly expensive). And, I want to be helpful to my teammates by offering Path of Frost, but I'm not sure if it's reliable.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Asking the simplest question first: what's your camera angle? If it's too high, you will sink even with Water Walking, as that's the "manual override".
Not sure though whether you need to hold the right mouse button for that to happen.
If it's only affecting you, and you still have the buff (which should fade on taking damage) then that's the most likely explanation, other than an actual bug.
