How do Paladins weigh in comparison to druids and warriors in the tankage category? I am really interested in playing a tanking paladin but I have people tellin me that druids and warriors are plain better....enlighten me so I can support the Paladin tanks out there!

Paladins are better at tanking multipule mobs. Druids are really good at tanking bosses who do tons and tons of damage from what I have seen. Druids and warriors generate the best single target threat but that doesn't mean a pally tank can't tank bosses.

I'm a Protadin, and I have tanked Maiden numerous times without any threat problems. It just takes timing. The silence is so short, and our spells are instant cast. SoV and Consecrate keep the threat going even when we're not casting something.
The only time I had threat issues was when I noobed it up and forgot RF...whoops.
The best tank is the one with skill. I like the play style of being a Pally.
...my 2 cents

As for Maiden, I'd rather have a warrior tank it. The silences can be annoying as hell for pallys, while it can be done, and it is, it's easier for a warrior.
I have never died when maintanking the Maiden fight. I have died while watching a warrior try to tank it though.

You can't use karazhan as an example of paladin threat generation being better than a warrior. Step up to the next raid in line where the mobs aren't undead and you can't use exorcism and your threat drops. Also it might help to have a GOOD warrior. With 500 spell damage I have never been able to top the warriors in my guild.
You also can't use maiden as an example. Just because you can deal with the silence doesn't mean your dps is all out. Your dps isn't brainless drooling zombies spamming the same buttons. DPSers *USUALLY* watch their threat and hold back a little bit, and on bosses like maiden they give you a little bit more time to get going.
Tanking prince I usually have 150k threat by the time he dies in 3 and a half minutes. Last week I took my rogue alt in for prince while one of our warriors tanked him. After 5 minutes he had 350k threat.
Also if you out TPS a warrior using seal of vengeance, that says a lot about the warrior. SOV sucks compared to SOR. That is why there is a libram for SoR and not SoV

So like I said, just because you beat one warrior in threat doesn't mean you will beat them all. Queue up AV and try to tank some of the NPCs next to a druid or warrior. Taunt off of them and watch them pull threat right back off of you without taunting. It happens. Druids and warriors generate better single target threat, but that doesn't mean paladins single target threat isn't any good. It just isn't as good.

Consecration, according to most raiding paladins composes the vast majority of threat gained...from single target tanking.

I'd hope all dps are smart enough to hold back on any battle that any of the three types of tanks are having trouble.

So in 3.5 minutes, you have a little under half of the threat that was generated by a warrior in 5 minutes. That's not that bad. However, one instance of this happening isn't indicative of all the instances of paladin's tanking. Both differences in skill, armor, and luck can contribute to any difference in the threat generated.
Also if you out TPS a warrior using seal of vengeance, that says a lot about the warrior. SOV sucks compared to SOR. That is why there is a libram for SoR and not SoV

Actually, that libram probably exists because horde paladins can't get SoV, so they
HAVE
to use seal of righteousness to tank. Overall, SoV is better for tanking when you consider both its judgment effect, and its over time effect.
edit*- I'll use Seal of Blood this time...and commit suicide, lol.

Druids and warriors generate better single target threat, but that doesn't mean paladins single target threat isn't any good. It just isn't as good.
First of all, paladin tanking is reflective, we need to get hit to generate threat. Holy Shield and Retribution Aura are excellent, but you do need to get hit to use them. If you taunt after a warrior was already generating threat, chances are you can't create that threat in the short amount of time that they can spam 5 devastates (or lacerate if you have a druid fetish). If a paladin pulls first, it is hard to pull the target off of them, even before we start stacking spell damage.
