My fellow Holydins out there can correct me if I am wrong... Because I may have either mis read the patch notes or these changes were not implemented yet..
BUT
Blizz nerfed our regen from crit so we need to rely more on MP5
yup

And still kinda failed on that account. Many holydins such as I still prefer crit. :P
Having tried the Mp5 route, I felt I just didn't need it. I felt I could manage my mana to an extent where mp5 was just wasted itemization.
(and I'm a solid healer tyvm.)

They didn't fail.
They did exactly what they set out to do.
Make us use mp/5. (if not make use.. at least not avoid like the plague)
I still think haste+mp/5 gear is king.

If you're saying to gem exp or hit (not sure by your phrasing) then I'd disagree of course. You always want to get your hit and exp from gear because when you get it that way only crit, ap, etc. are being replaced. if you use gems you're replacing strength and that's a big no-no : )
Until capped hit rating is the biggest increase in DPS, and in case you didnt know STR = AP.
Expertise is 80% as valuable as hit. Though STR beats Exp, it doesnt beat hit.
If you're below the hit cap, use yellow sockets to reach it, you'll get more DPS than putting STR gems in there. And chances are you'll have enough yellow sockets to reach hit cap.
Your statement about how you'll want to get hit and expertise from gear, not gems, is just very very flawed.
Item point budgets, that phrase should pretty much clear up why.
But just in case i'll give you a fast and flawed example.
Item A & B has an item point budget of 210.
STR costs 1 item point, so does hit and expertise rating.
Item A has 170 str and 40 hit rating
Item B has 210 str and 0 hit rating
Item A has 2 sockets, put in two 20 STR gems and item A gives you 210 STR and 40 hit rating
Item B has 2 sockets, put in two 20 hit gems and item B gives you 210 STR and 40 hit rating
What's the difference between gemming for hit and getting it from gear?
No matter were the stats come from the importance of them doesn't change.
