Ok, it's technically not your modem that's losing it's connection. If your internet is dropping completely, it could be an outside wiring issue. Have you tried power cycling the device completely? Remove the power cable from the modem for at least a full minute, then reconnect it. Check the connection after 2-3 minutes to allow the modem to completely boot up.
Are you behind a router? If so, power cycle it as well. Just remove the power for a minute or so, then reconnect it. (It's best to power cycle the modem AND the router at the same time to ensure your DHCP server is functioning properly after the reboot).
Are you noticing any red lights on the modem when the internet connection is dropped? If so, contact your service provider and ask them to do an outside line test. (Yes, it is possible for them to see any dropped packets on the line).
I hope this helps you out. I do tech support for AT&T and these are some pretty basic troubleshooting steps that we use. There are some more advanced ones, but it's usually a good idea to inform your ISP that your modem may have connectivity problems leading to intermittent sync.

Like a dial up modem? You can play wow on dial up?
I play using dial-up on a 26.4kbps connection. It's possible. Only things I can't do are raid and sit in Dalaran.
