Like a mad scientist(lol):
Uses mana
Leather armor
1h:daggers,maces,swords
2h:Staves, maces
Wands
Off hand frills
The mad scientist would specialize is nature spells in the from of lightning and poison. The will also have minor "creations" that work as pets. Creations must first be created with materials, but mad scientists start with the skills to do so.
Talent Trees:
Summoner-Creations based
Infection-Poison Based
Thunder-Lightning Based
Some spells:
-A chain lightning spell
-Lightning and Poison bolt
-Charges yourself with lightning and pushes foes back
-Thunder Storm AoE
-Poison cloud consencration
-Poison volley
Possible creations:
-Zombie: basic dispensible pet.
-Hell hound:Highest melee dps
-Robot:increases lightning damage done
PLEASE RESPOND WITH OPINION. ADD ON WITH OTHER IDEAS ALSO!

Sounds like a combination between a shaman, rogue and warlock.
1. Why would a mad scientist wear leather? Aren't they more of the cloth robe type of class.
2. Alot of the spells you listed resemble those of an elemental shaman way too much.
3. The first two pets are way too similar to death knight and warlock pets and the robot pet sounds like something an engineer should be using.
They need more variety to be considered a unique class.

The class idea is actually OK. However, you really need to work on the name. Think about.... "I play a level 85 mad scientist." Just sounds so bad lol.

I would prefer Apothecary for Forsaken (Dude, they got so much plague stuff going on, and already exist), and Worgen (You're controlling your badass wolfishness through medication and stuff).

There are rumors about blizzard adding new classes. Nothing with a that is confirmed. If Blizzard adds any new classes they will make 'Prestige' classes. From what I was told these are better variations of the current classes with new features (think DK runes). tinkers, demon hunters, shadow hunters, arch druids, tauren chieftians, baldemasters, etc.
They would require a race/class of at least level X. Some require 2 different classes of x level. From you are suggesting it sounds like a necromancer/tinker class. Good concept You seem to be still thinking about using elements already in the game to make a new class.
As I see it a mad scientist would not fight battles alone. He would use minions to fight for him while he turns the tides of battle. Maybe a undead golem, or hordes of mindless zombies made from enemies who died with a certain debuff. Maybe he uses a battle tank. You describe him as using SPELLS. Since when do science and magic go together?
Maybe he uses alchemy to make poisons like an old school rogue. Maybe he builds cannons spread his plagues. Maybe he has his victims spread the plague for him.
I think the damage of the players character and his minions would need to be balanced. A character without a minion would be gimped in any situation. They pet would need to be able to fight, but not be more powerful than his master.
Class like this could potentially be a great addition. The problem is getting it right. If you have a guy with a pet and he uses abilities it sounds like a hunter/warlock. He would be either/or if he had a mana bar.
The best idea is to go with a cross over between totems and DK runes. Have him drop a portable laboratory. The lab would provide supplies(reagents) for attacks and they would respawn over a period of time. If the supplies are too limited, he is like a DK with no death runes rooted in place. Let the lab have a limit, but one a little far off, noway to reach it but in a boss fight. If the math is done right the character would have a complex casting sequence that pushed high numbers or helpful effects. Maybe when he does reach that downtime state, he empowers his minions with tricks that do not require a lab/reagents.
The teir trees would have the mechanical and necromancy trees that buffs minions or provide different ones.the third would be chemistry.
Effects and buffs would be added to minions. Their focus would be to use their victims as a cooking pot of death. Grab an alkali metal and use a pump with water to blow your targets into dust. Each of these style of attacks would have different effects that worked together to deal either raw damage(boom) or dots effects. These could make the target unstable (stacking debuff) and more provide to similar effects. After getting a boss low and stacking the unstable debuff, maybe they get a kill shot effect. Maybe the minion adds his own final debuff that damages both, killing the minion, and dealing damage that is factored with the unstable debuff and removes the debuff altogether.
These effects can work with existing debuffs. Maybe highly combustible reagents make those fire spells burn hotter and longer. Maybe liquid nitrogen makes them more shatter prone with frost attacks.
Going back to the trees. A mechanic/robotics scientist would make big tanks for raw damage output.
They necromancer would use used body parts to make many small or single large pets that provided base melee hits with separate toxic debuffs.
Every detail of the class would need to be worked it. You do not want to remake a hunter/warlock class. I hope something similar to this is added..
I like the idea of these smaller effects that work with other things to make a more interesting casting sequence. It would be like seal & judgment sequencing before the nerf.
