They are
3-4 lvl's above me
and I can't hit them for jack.
kill things that are the same or lower level as/than you. for optimal leveling speed you will kill things that are 2-3 levels below.
in the meantime, use an affliction levelling build and make sure you take the talent
suppression
I've seen exactly zip for items with +hit and very little with SP. Does this change as I get higher lvl? yes it does. you will see a few items, mostly instance drops at first, start to come with these stats and when you do you should prioritise them greatly.
On a somewhat different topic. Is it normal to run out of quests at this lvl?
not really
I guess I could go to the other continent but I was hoping to avoid that.yes, continent or zone. explore more and you will find quests. usually in wow there are mini quests that lead you to the next areas. sounds like it's those little quests that you've missed.
take a look at
this page
for a list of zones and their levels. choose one that's about the right or slightly lower level than you.

warlocks are special ^_^
for us, our offensive and defensive abilities are inextricably linked by things like siphon life, drain life, life tap, health funnel, fel synergy, soul leech etc etc.
higher spellpower increases output, lowers fight lengths and increases health/mana returns.
the 'SP > all' gearing strategy works best for affliction but applies to all builds.

Also, may I recommend an add-on called Rating Buster (
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/rating-buster.aspx
). Rather than just showing you the difference in intellect, stamina, spell power, etc., it actually shows you how much health, mana, spell power, spell crit, etc., an item will gain or lose over what you have equipped. However, I believe it does not take spirit into account in the way that warlocks can use it.
I'll second Rating Buster as an excellent add-on.
It does take account of the spirit to SP conversion of Fel Armor,
if
you currently have the Fel Armor buff.
Rating Buster takes many circumstances into account (talents, buffs, etc.) when calculating it's ratings.
(This is especially noticeable for druids, make sure you're in the right form for your gear!)

You don't really need to worry about gear as you level (they'll just be replaced as you go up the ladder anyway); all you really need are quest rewards. But if you want to level faster, you might want to get the heirloom items (two of which you already have) for increased experience and peace of mind (not having to worry about gear). While leveling, I went with SP/stam> everything else.
