Is serpent sting even worth using at low levels?

I know this may a totally noobish questions, but seeing how I am a noob at being a hunter I'm okay with that.
Is
Serpent Sting
worth the mana at low levels? My hunter is now level 22 (marksman spec) and even if I pull with this move I only get 2 or 3 tics off before I kill the mob, I don't really see it being worth the mana for basicly half an autoshot.

probobly you didn't understand me. I use hunter's mark not to increase the serpent sting damage, but to increase
ALL
auto shots damage
Your original post indicates that you were using Serpent Sting before applying Hunter's Mark. He was simply indicating that you could increase your damage and efficiency by casting Hunter's Mark on a target before you hit them with Serpent Sting.

Hunter mark macro with pet attack, 1 arcane shot (or a couple of steady) + auto shot till death.
Serpen is not mana efficent and mobs die too fast (if you have a ferocity pet at your level).
Use it on elites only or when you have something to do (mine, skin) while pet takes care of mob.
P.S.
if mob level < your level = not use
if mob level > = your level = use

For questing, maybe not. But in instances where the mobs, and especially the bosses, take longer to kill--then definitely
