i.e. basic raid competency

The guy is puggable. The real key in the fight is just staying out of the fires. If people are doing that and no one is dying to fire but the boss is dying to slowly, dps's fault because of the damage stacks.
If the tank keeps kiting into the fires, his fault.
If dps die after the fire aoe that the boss does, healers fault.
Overall its straightfoward, just don't, stand, in, the, fire.

I pug using a rule of thirds
if you don't clear it in three runs tops, leave, run, and never come back
Really? I did TotC 10 man with a pug, we wiped a good amount of times, probaly from 5-12 times, but guess what? We got to the final boss eventually and downed him.
A little effort and communication goes a long way.

It is a pretty hard thing but is completely puggable. In fact I organized a raid for it just the other day. We got a full group and tried it 2 times. Then I booted the people with less than 2.5k dps and apologized even though I didn't really mean it. Re-filled the spots and re-tried over and over. Ended up losing a dps and then the raid warning thing that says "this instance is about to reset" started goin off so we 24 manned it :P pretty epic considering we couldn't do it with a full group. I ended up with an entire raid thanking me and telling me how good I was and how if i ever needed them then they would be happy to come :) a whole raid full of new friends was worth not gettin emalon or archavon down.

I've switched servers so i'm not currently in a raiding guild. That being said, i've been in multiple PuG's for either new VoA boss. I haven't ever had a group that can down either one. It sucks as my DPS is ~4500 and i'm familiar with the strategies. Yeah, I need to get into a raiding guild.

Meh, PuGed it yesterday after only two wipes, we downed him. (Completely a PuG, yes, no guild "hosted" it)
EDIT: On 25 man. We did it on 10 man with a single tank and 2 healers (Of which I was one)

Completeley puggable!
I ran it completed it 3 times on my two 80's. The first 10 man pug we wipedon the first attempt then nailed it on the second try. First 25 man I tried we wiped a few times then I had an emergency and had to leave so not sure what heppened. Onmy hunter the first 25 man we wiped once becasue a healer dced, and on 10 man we one shotted it. The fight is easy if you pay attention, I think alot easier than Emalon was when he came out. You are just having bad luck with pugs.
