Good point. If you're running on a beastly $5000 computer with a 64-bit OS, you could conceivably install a VM and run WoW with satisfactory results. If you're like many of us though, your computer is running with 3GB of RAM at most; a VM running WoW would be uber secure but probably also uber painful on the gaming experience.
TL;DR: $5000 computer - Yes, $500 computer - No

I didn't expected that advice from this thread give my account back. I don't believe in magic hehe! All I want is to talk to somebody and learn what is to do in my specific situation. I find I am having a hard time expressing the right thing when speaking English and I need to think it first and then translate and I can't do that properly in a discussion with a GM for example. Also I don't want to tell them how incredibly stupid I was until I know that that is the only way.

Can someone recommend a program to search for keyloggers for Windows Vista users?

For Adware/Spyware, stuff like that, you should try Lavasoft Ad-Aware, it's free and works great.
/plug
Anyways, 100%-sure way of not getting hacked: B-net mobile authenticator. 'Nuff said. (Someone has most likely said this already. Oh well!)

I downloaded
Malwarebytes
and
spybot S&D
and found stuff my anti-virus program missed.

That is NOT "'nuff said." Apparently you didn't read the original posts. Mobile authenticator is
NEARLY
100%. No lock can keep a determined criminal out forever. The foil to the authenticator:
Social Engineering
.
I'll have to second caboosefanatic's post though. I install both programs on every computer I have to wipe because someone has contracted 789 infections (true story, 789).

I just wanted to post about what my workmate told me, he said on a recent survey on AVG showed the most of the supporters (or something like that i cant remember the actual terms/words used) of AVG are actually the ones who make the viruses and stuff so when you do a scan it doesn't show them, wish I could find a link to it though.
basically AVG = bad = supported by the same ones who make the bad viruses etc

Oh yea maybe this sticky is not very good ( hackers can get just as much heads up on our brainstormed ideas, but that is me being hyper paraniod )
Principle of Information Security #6: Obscurity does not lead to security.
My current favorites for free security software:
Secunia PSI
Avast! Antivirus
Comodo Firewall
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Spybot S & D
KeePass Password Safe

I'm studying network security. Basically what everyone said here is pretty much right on the spot let me just clarify a few things.
I used avast and never had problems. It's relatively free and It's quite good. Stay away from McAfee, that thing is complete garbage.
1- One thing you must realize is that a hacker ( a smart determine one ) will eventually break in, but it test the patience of a hacker by a huge threshold.
2- I would like to stress that somehow, ( i'm not sure, might be a WoW sniffer ) the more wealthier your characters get, the bigger target you are for hacker activity. Keep out for strange bad whispers and never visit their web sites.
3- Make sure you also log out when leaving any site or forums, ( even if they say they will de log you, still log out anyways you can never be safe )
Some of what said here is absurdly parania lol. Sure it's amazing protection but if a hacker has THAT much trouble trying to get your pass and or keylog you, they minus well be hacking a small company. I don't know if some of you use stand a lone computers connected directly to a modem, but if you set a firewall and a router/ switch/hub you can offer slight protection.
4. Playing WoW on a mac is INCREDIBLY effective and secured - only about 8% of people ever try to do some form of hacking on an apple. Most programs cant function on an apple.
Hmm i will come up with more ideas, i need to sit here and think but it's good to have more minds.
5. Oh yea maybe this sticky is not very good ( hackers can get just as much heads up on our brainstormed ideas, but that is me being hyper paraniod
)
dunno why i didnt notice this post when i commented....but i wanna go down the list....
yes of course a determined hacker might eventually get your account, but the harder you make it, the sooner he gives up as there are pleanty of other less protected accounts out there.
Thats actually pretty easy to explain (as for the person being loaded etc) is a number of gold selling sights will keep your information and come back in a couple months to steal all your stuff after you have done business with them.
Eh, I don't really see the issue of keeping your log in information for forums or something on, I would hope you would be smart enough to use a different user name and/or password an account somewhere that uses money or something, or same as your WoW info
Of course macs are secure systems to use, the majority of the world uses PCs still over macs, gamers tend to use PCs because well, lets be honest, PC > MACS with games. If the majority of the world used MACS there would be alot more viruses and stuff out there for macs.
Having some form of safety knowledge is better than none, I kinda doubt hackers will pay attention to threads like this cause they will keep stealing accounts from people until they all up on their security (make it harder). Basically hackers are going to take the easy accounts first over wasting time trying to work on more secure accounts.
ok im done :P

Addressing point #5 from the above two posts:
When I said obscurity does not lead to security, I should have elaborated. The point here is that if an honest Joe discovers a security weakness, no amount of hiding that hole makes the hole more secure. The best practice is to reveal the weakness to the software publisher so it can be patched.
yes of course a determined hacker might eventually get your account, but the harder you make it, the sooner he gives up as there are pleanty of other less protected accounts out there.
This. Totally this. For the sake of your hard-earned gear and gold, PLEASE get an authenticator and follow the guidelines found on page 1 of this thread. Practice safer surfing since
this
doesn't work.

Send the links here,

You can get them shut down that way. Or spend time sending messages to their domain.
Thought I would put this useful site here.
