ok I see alot of ppl on forums not putting up SW:P right off the bat in thier rotations. I usually do VT, SW:P, DP, MB, SW:D to start off and THEN reapply SW:P for the bonus. If i do it this way, usually it gets about 2 ticks in which doesn' equals quite a bit for an instant cast. Why do others only apply SW:P after you have 5 stacks of shadow weaving instead of just reapplying it? I just wanna know if I'm overlooking something? (and plz don't say mana conservation, we all know worrying about mana is a joke when it comes to Shadow Priests lol)

i don't think it's too inneficite, because for that 1 extra second of cooldown you get a few extra ticks before you manually put a new one with the buff over it. And if you're a shadow priest and have mana problems......wow but thank you for the post.

Most people say the best opening is: VT, MB, MF, DP, SW:P So let's see which is better, yours or another one, I will use numbers with standart shadow priest build and 2k spellpower for this:
With casting at your rotation, it would be differences:
Mind flay recieves 18.3% spellpower per tick and has 230 base tick damage. With 2000 spell power damage gets to (0.183x2000)+230 = 596 damage.
We also get some talents: Darkness, Improved SW:P, Shadowform, Twin disciplines.
It would boost damage to: (596x1.1x1.06x1.15x1.05x1.02)= 856 damage. Assuming you cast it second it gets additional 2% damage: 839x1.02 = 856 damage. You get 2 ticks only when you have 0 haste, which won't happen:
0.0 SW:P
1.5 DP
3.0 MB (first tick)
4.5 SW:D
6.0 Reapply SW:P (would be second tick)
Another difference is SW:D:
(((750+870)/2) + (2000x0.429))x1.1x1.08(4 stacks of shadow weaving)x1.15x1.05 = 2393 damage
You cast mind blast after 3 stacks of Shadow Weaving:
(((992+1048)/2) + (2000x0.429x1.15(misery)))x1.1x1.06x1.15 = 2692
That means your different spells does total of 5941 average damage.
Now for the other spells:
Mind flay is being cast after 2 shadow weaving stacks:
(588+(2000x0.59x1.15))x1.1x1.04x1.15 = 2558
Mind blast is cast after 1 stack of shadow weaving:
(((992+1048)/2) + (2000x0.429x1.15))x1.1x1.02x1.15 = 2590
So other rotation gives 5148 average damage.
That means, you do ~800 more damage but you also waste more mana. It has situational use but you can't use it on fights like General Vezax
