Well when I got hacked about a month ago, I contacted a GM as soon as possible and it took about 3 days if I can remember correctly.
I got pretty much everything back as well as all the junk the hacker got from my money, which was about 10k+ gold and both of my characters that were deleted/transferred were restored.
They will be able to do this a few times, but they let you know that your stuff is your responsibility, and that if it happens too many other times, they won't be able to do it again.
So my best advice is that you change your password as soon as possible if you haven't already, get a Blizzard authenticator and hopefully your stuff will be restored.
Good Luck. =)

No one ever really gets "hacked."
Don't bother to change your password until you are sure you do not have a keylogger. Subject your computer to free online virus/malware scans from Norton and reputable companies. Download and run Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes' Anti-malware. Kill anything that moves.
When you're sure you don't have any keyloggers on your machine, only then is it safe to change your password. Although the authenticator is not perfect (1 in 1,000,000 chance of having your account hijacked even when someone knows your account name/password), penny-for-penny it's the best damn $6 (free for iPhones) you'll ever spend.
Don't respond to any emails that ask for your WoW account information, no matter how legitimate the email looks. If you're unsure of an email's legitimacy, contact Blizzard account administration BY TELEPHONE to check up on the email. If there is a problem with your account, you can resolve it over the phone.
