I dual weilded stygian for a few weeks until I was able to get frigid heart, and my dps didn't seem any worse than what I had before.
Before my second one I was using sinister revenge in mh, I decided to change to fast/fast and see how it went because the low and top end damage of the stygian was not much lower than that on sinister, and ofc the dps was higher.
Anyway I never actually measured the difference myself but I definatly wasn't doing any worse. You may was well use dual stygian for a few raids and see how it goes, if you really don't like it you can always ditch it for the rondel again.

This is why you should have spreadsheeted before bidding on the new dagger.

I'm sure there are other reasons that your dps will drop using 1.4's, but one of the more important ones will be caused by the 3.1 change to the Instant Poison mechanics. Since it is on a proc per minute slower daggers (mh) will cause higher IP dmg.
Here
is a link to the topic about the IP changes.

The main reason your damage went down is because of the flat weapon damage decrease, which would affect your Mutilate damage. You lost more on Mutilate than you gained in white damage (among other things).

RNG is the likely cause of your loss of dps.
Did you enchant the new dagger?
Mutilate's speed is honestly not that important, a 40 dps increase from your MH should increase your dps.

A majority of Mutilates damage comes from poisons, envenom, and depending on your gear level, rupture.
Why would you want anything but a fast weapon in at least your offhand?

crap.
even as mutilate, still 30-ish% of damage comes from white hits. maybe it's not the biggest part, but it's a considerable part. also another 15-ish% (maybe more) comes from mutilate damage, that depends on your weapon damage.
thos damage have been lowered since the MH you're using hase a low max damage. maybe you deal more strikes (and you miss more anyway) but they are so little that they don't compensate the damage of the slow one.
having a fast MH has become a loss of dps from when istant/wound has become PPM (you don't gain anymore procs having a fast MH). as you can see, even with a 30dps difference, still the slower can provide you more dps than the faster.
and being even more detailed, DP does not have a PPM mechanic. faster the weapon, more procs you have (even if it doesn't count so much these days with the new MP)
