A polite Swedish teenage girl to be Pope.
Try to be nice to each other, please? Skal!
That's cute. Also that is us being nice!
Also am I the only one terrified for north korea? Lord knows america fights crazy with crazy and could end all of their suffering in a day. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the comments on the news stories are "uh cant we just bomb them already uh get it over with.". Do people not know there are civilians in north korea too? :/
My heart goes out for them, as I know what it is like to live under the regime of a dictator that has instituted a "
Personality Cult
" on the nation and slowly reverse itself rather than advance itself. So seeing as my own country is slowly but steadily becoming like theirs, I do feel for them. However they can't be helped because for some reason, North Korea is under the protection of China
Entertaining read on North Korea, in an easy-to-understand mode.
And yes, the solution of fixing a dictatorship by carpetbombing the place is stupid. Look at Iraq, sure they got saddam out, but PLENTY of innocent civilians and children lost their homes, and their lives for nothing. Either do something right or don't do it at all, specially when innocent lives are at stake. Sheesh.
Its pretty sad to look at this image.
Its an aerial photo from space of the entire korean peninsula (North and South). Notice how the north is in utter darkness while the south is lit up like a christmass tree.

I don't think you actually have an argument for this. So, I believe that the Catholic Church isn't practicing Christianity accurately. 2 other historical figures also had these beliefs. I still don't understand what that has to do with me. Your first person listed, Luther, was a raging hateful man, who believed that nothing you did affected whether you would go to heaven. Calvin believed that there is no such thing as free will in Christianity. These beliefs are so shockingly contrary to the entire teaching of the Bible, of Christ, that they form the anti-thesis of my beliefs. When I state my philosophies, and then you bring them up, I ask what they have to do with me? Since we hold a single solitary similar viewpoint on a specific organization, but for vastly different reasons, they are somehow like me?
I like beer. So does Obama. All of a sudden that has something to do with me? Obama and I are practically mirror images?
You connect the dots. Because the picture here is a complicated mosaic of information, and you have provided two solitary dots and somehow insisted that the picture is just a line. So, connect them for me. I wait in gross anticipation at how you will explain this.
I'm not gonna argue at how your vision of both reformers is historically distorted, theologically inaccurate and contrary to the entire success of the Reform, that's not in point here, and religion has become cliché.
And, yes, the fact that you hold a similar viewpoint makes them somewhat like you. How is this not self-evident? It is in itself a similarity.
I brought it up because what you described as your unhappiness with the Church seemed similar to the teachings of Luther and Calvin and I wondered what a pious well-spoken catholic like yourself would think of that. I said the point thing because I knew you could give a better answer than a line, and you did, so let's all be thankful for that. The thing is you apparently have absolutely no idea what Luther and Calvin were about; their entire belief was based on being as loyal to the written bible and the teachings of the first christian community (the apostles) as possible. All of their theological arguments, including the first ones about the bondage of will (Luther's, by the way) were based solely around the gospels.
As to the going to heaven and raving man parts; what they developed actually focused more on material matters than divine contemplation, focusing their work upon to earth in order to keep the mind busy, the self sublime and to contribute to God's greatest work. And Luther's eloquence and erudition were one of the key points for the whole movement being as powerful as it was.
Look at that, I ended up talking about religion after all.
And, who knows MyTie? Maybe you and that communist Muslim have something in common.

Shouldn't this be in one of the many religious threads we have for just such a reason?
