Now, I've been a SPriest all my WoW career, and have enjoyed it thoroughly... however, I had a stint back in BC with Holy DPS and must say that I miss having that option. It was fun, bursty and different. Plus it was more like being a true priest than causing disease and melting faces off with a blue lazer.
Stop. Before you talk about how "lolsmite" is gone because it was never meant to be / Blizzard developers don't want it / priests already have a DPS option / it is gay, I'm going to tell you not to say those things, and let me make an ass of myself for a bit... thanks.
So anyway, I have been toying with the notion of fixing the current Disc tree with a couple of additional lines in some of the talents, but I found it to be far too difficult to keep the same structure as it currently stands. Instead, I have removed some talents, moved their effects into other talents, and in some cases actually left them where they are! This has taken all of 2 hours for me to painstakingly edit, thankfully I was editing someone else's custom tree which already had some fantastic ideas. So here is the unpolished and disgustingly yellow Disc tree that I so carefully destroyed:

If you have any comments or suggestions, or simply want to tell me I'm a !@#$%^, please put them below.
Kindest regards,
Blinky

Some of your ideas are cool, it just seems so... half-baked. I guess that's what happens when you try to write a talent tree in two hours.

You're missing the point. He
rewrote
the talent tree, you can't do that on Wowhead. The site he used is dedicated to making new talent trees.

You've removed some talents, but haven't removed Atonement -- merely weakening it to compensate for the fact that you want Disc to be a competitive DPS spec. That doesn't work. If Disc were to become designed as being a DPS spec, Atonement would have to be redesigned to a similar level of healing as Vampiric Embrace. Halving the amount that it heals but doubling the amount of damage that Disc can output will result in a Discipline spec that can do as much DPS as a standard DPS spec, but can also heal as well as a full-time healer.
Additionally, Evangelism buffing damage
and
healing would cause double-dipping with Atonement.
Good point on evangelism, and one I failed to notice. Atonement was something I did notice, however was not sure what to put in it's place... I'll come up with something.

Sudden inspiration = palas holy shock talent?
PW:V = same as SW:P is for shadow
Ignite on smite if holy fire is there
Spirit of vengencae= shadowform
Shadow priest / dps holy priest
SW:P keep up on target/ PW:V keep up on targed
mindflay refresh it / penance refresh it
keep VT up /keep PW:S buff up
mind blast on CD/holy fire on CD
shadow form / spirit of vengance
way to close to just be the same as a shadow priest
it either be
A) redone whole Disc to not be a healer anymore
B) new hero class
to make this work

Ok, so I've had a little more time to think about this, and been a little more reasonable. I took the standard tree and only added two bottom tier talents to add another option (similar to how Fury has 2-Handed and 1-Handed options), as well as adding secondary effects to a number of current talents. Hopefully this will make Disc similar to Feral Druids, who have two viable specs in one tree that utilise the same talents for different effects.
Here is the new tree:

Please criticize as harshly as you want, and I'll be off dreaming about smite crits and BC raiding...

Good to see I have some backing here, and with constructive criticism/ideas put forward too. Trying to put this stuff up on the WoW forums is just pointless, I was burned into ash in about 2 hours...
Feral druids. A tree that has 2 separate roles, and uses some of the same talents for both specs. Similar to how there are PvP specific talents in most trees these days, I guess. The only reason why I would choose Disc to become the hybrid tree, is mainly because Holy has very few other talents that help an offensive caster than Chakra (which is still see as a very limited talent for this purpose), and the top level talents (which are able to be used by Disc specs anyway).
I think the only thing we are missing is another button to push, something instant cast but not just a straight damage ability... and I'm not going to make SW:Death turn into Holy Word: Death, coz that's just a contradiction in itself.
