Yes, lol@ 5-mans and all that...
Anyway. I've healed heroic Trial of Champions several times. Shaman was easiest, then paladin, then druid. I can't do it on my disc priest. Too many people taking large amounts of damage on the first fight. Here is where i'm seeing the extra 2 seconds on Penance kick my butt.
When I just couldn't heal the fight, I swapped my shaman in and still had a few problems (recount showed that 2 of the DPS were only doing 1100 a piece, so the fights went forever), but finished the instance.
Any Disc priests seem to have no problem in Heroic Trial of Champions? I made a post a couple of months ago about how my shaman seems to have more of a tolerance for sub-par groups because I can just chain heal spam to make up for mistakes, where Disc you really have to have people who aren't 'tards.
And just to flip this around, there are several fights I've done on my disc priest where they're by far the easiest to heal (the OT on Emalon, for example)

It's really no different than any other, the only fight that gave me trouble was the black knight, just be sure to dispel the diseases ASAP and teach your stupid DPS to run away from ghouls or they'll die. The first time I wiped on the Black knight, I thought it was my fault, then realize my stupid DPS loved just trying to kill the things between 2nd and third phase.
Bear in mind also, that this is literally an intermission between Naxx and Ulduar level instance (on heroic) so if your priest is undergeared, it's gonna be harder.

If it matters.

Right around gear-appropriate, but haven't gotten my hands on some pieces that should help me in there.
My druid is comparably equipped and was able to make it through on a group that had better dps.

My disc priest hit 80 about three weeks ago, and was wearing a mix of tailoring products and heroics gear, with the T7.25 pants. I walked in and started healing clean out, no prior reading of the strats involved.
The hardest part for me (and I think everybody else in the world) was the combat immediately following the jousting portion - I'd draw aggro like a $%^&* and get one shot before the tank could finish gathering up all three of the champions. We had some problems with people standing in stupid *!@# or the tank not moving to regain aggro on the night elf (we're horde, obviously) and then I'd get ganked by her. Once we figured that stuff out, healing was easy-peasy. The Black Knight is fairly easy for me as well.
Stage 1: Tank and Spank. Throw shields around as necessary, but they aren't very - I use LH spam to keep people topped off for stage 2.
Stage 2: As SOON as you see stage 2 coming, drop a PoM on the tank, shield the @#$% out of everybody, and have a macroed Inner Focus'ed, Power Infused Prayer of Healing ready to go. This is my OH *!@# button, you should have it ready as well. As soon as you see one person take a dive in health, Penance them, and LH them until you can drop a shield on them again to proc Borrowed Time. As soon as you've got your shield on, hammer your OH *!@# button and assuming you're already running ~10% haste, you just dropped a group heal on your team in 1.5 seconds with a +25% crit chance over your existing crit (currently 20% for me), you get 20% of your initial heal applied as a HoT for the next six seconds, AND you're now running at ~35% haste for the next 15 seconds, which if your party is actually geared properly for the instance, should be more than enough to push to stage 3.
Stage 3: Not much to say here - keep PoM on cooldown, keep shields up, and pray that your DPS can down him before you get nuked.

I assume you mean
Flash Heal
instead of
this

Yep, I meant Flash Heal.
Oh, and a
link
to my toon. As you'll note, she's decked out in a fair bit of ToC5 +ToC5H gear - it's worth farming the regular instance, as there are some extremely tasty bits of equipment in there. The itemization is VERY good.

Yeah, I agree that I need more crit - I've mainly geared off what I have available to me. Everything that has dropped without +hit has had a ton of spirit on it. I might (at least temporarily) respec Holy, but I really do enjoy Disc style healing over Holy.

Phase 1 should be cake for Disc if players can not stand in poison ... which is harder to achieve than you might think.
This was the issue.
We had a difficult spread of guys to kill. The mage, the rogue, and the hunter. 3 people were taking multi-thousands of damage per second. When I moved over to my shaman, I went from 23k mana to 0 just spamming chain heal on all of them because none of them ever let up on the amount of damage taken.
That never happens to me on my shaman, even on Auriaya during the initial pull.
I think it still came down to shaman healers are more idiot-proof (for my style). I couldn't put out the HPS on multiple targets. If I kept the tank alive, 2 dps would have been dead in the first 5 seconds of the encounter. Shields get burned through in a second.

I've only done TOC 3 times, first time as shadow with guidies, mostly ulduar geared. It's quite smooth and no wipes beside afew death.
On my second try, I went as a healer with a pug... (pala tank, rogue, warrior, hunter) 2 of the dps still have got blue and greens on them. After a few wipes, they began to put blames on me. For someone geared like me, I should be able to heal this with no problem. So when the 3 of them were shooting at me for causing the wipes due to not healing on the dps enough.. with no other experiences(since on my first try, the healer was equally gear as me), hell yea, I'm damn depressed and thought it was all my fault -.-
So on my third try, I went with my guidies again, the 1 who tank on my 1st try, we got pass without much problem.
Here's my armory

Oh, and yesterday I ran with my dk with a pug. Wiping on phrase 3 with a holy pala. End up we clear by having 2 healers. So either there's a backup healer in the group, or the group is geared enough, I'm not going to pug this heroic as heal ever again. I've always hated dps who think they can go everywhere(heroics, raid) with blues and green and thought it's the tank/healers fault for the wipes. While tanks and healers have run reg for a thousand times to be geared enough to go into heroics
-.-

First of all i'd like to say disc can heal anything, anywhere.
The thing is, other healers can cast big heals in short times, but we can't.A disc healer is supposed to know when raid/tank will take damage.
For ex, i've been doing ToC since it came online, and the only wipe we had was the first time we were trying it because we had no idea what was going to happen after we finish the first part of first phase. But when we got the idea and reached Black Knight at second try, i just noticed raid getting moderate damage when he summoned ghouls, so just shielded everyone, and when the knight turned into his ghost form, i noticed raid is getting huge damage, so just infused myself, spammed 2 PoH, then shielded everyone, PoM on tank, then kept spamming PoH.At the end everyone was happy.
What i can suggest to all my fellow disc brothers and sisters here is, go to Hodir with two moron healers and be assigned on MT as usual but act as a raid healer while keeping your tank alive and manage your mana pool, never go oom.You will notice that your skills have been improved a lot at the end of the fight.

save your Divine Hymn with Inner Focus for last bit. You will find that 10 seconds in you will have to cast it, but make sure you shield yourself first. The DA procs will mitigate most of the damage incoming from the bolts and the Hymn tick after will heal everyone up.
The real key to doing this fight is to have clique and grid with a gaming mouse. i find that the faster my reaction time to healing people up, the less damage i have to struggle against to make up. Holy Nova in this fight is just bliss
The black knight will most probably be nerfed at some points. For a heroic, its pretty tough on a tank and healer who hasn't really raided yet.
That being said, lol at the normal mode trinket drops :O

I've healed it a few times as Disc now, and I don't think its any more difficult or complicated than healing any other 5-man, you just need to be familiar with the fights and have DPS in your group who aren't retarded (specifically for the end of the Black Knight's phase 2).
I dealt with the Black Knight's phase 2 headache by keeping PW:S up on the whole group for the duration of the phase. I actually tried that for the first time last night, and it worked great (I do have a fairly large mana pool that lets me do that without tapping out). Just make sure as Phase 2 ends your DPS knows to GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THE GHOULS. I DPS'd in a run a few days ago with a Shaman healer who failed to grasp this after 3 wipes... and he just kept getting himself killed by corpse explosions.
Phase 3 is a headache- I have Power Infusion and Inner Focus macro'd to my Divine Hymn, and once people started getting hit heavily during this phase, I popped a shield to proc Borrowed Time and hit my macro. Followed it up with 2 PoH's and well-placed Flash heals... and it wound up to be the first ToC I've done where no one died.
Just get yourself familiar with the mechanics of the fight, really. Knowing and anticipating what comes next will help you to be more proactive in your healing of the instance rather than reactive... which will really make the difference.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with this... I was considering rerolling just cuz Ithought i wasn't cut out for healing at all... Then the rogue in my group told me Disc sucked at PvE... I lol'd at him... what do rogues know haha...Tried it again with guildies the other day went a lot smoother cuz i was actually focusing mostly cuz i was a new recruit =P.
Anyways after the first fight is over it does get a lot easier to heal just have to Sheild, Renew, Prayer of Mending, Penance... you def need range in the group also... I had 1 warr 2 dks 1 rogue... lol
