Why?
Why did Blizzard decide to jam all of the important vendors & NPCs there?
Why couldn't they place them in other cities as well?
Some people, like me and a few others I know, can barely move in Dalaran. I can't teleport there because I lag so bad I DC. I have a friend who can't even get close to Dalaran without disconnecting. Now, yes, we may not have the greatest PCs but why should we miss out, or be forced to pulling out our hair trying to turn in a heroic daily, or getting to the emblem vendors?
I just don't understand why they can't put more in other cities. I know I am not alone in this problem. I pay the monthly fee to play and I feel I should get to experience those things, when my PC meets the minum requirements.

Because scattering all the NPCs would create more whine then the "few" people that has lag due to Dalaran (Or Shattrah back in the days).
You have to remember there is another side of the situation.
But a thing they could have done was to separate horde/alliance. Which would reduce the amount of people in Dala by 1-99%, all depending on Horde to Alliance ratio.

the same reason the login dragon exists
upgrade your computer.
yup, my missus has the same problem, but has a moral quam with spending money on her PC, so like I say to her.
If you want to run a crap PC, you have to put up with it.
Personally, i run at about 35 fps in dala, and my PC isnt
hot

where as I DO agree with the OP that Dalaran is Way laggy and is poorly designed, it is what it is.
I dont believe you need a "new computer" as people have advised, However, you Can get an updated graphics card pretty cheaply. they are easy to install, and you can get pretty good ones on sites like buy.com and tigerdirect.com for under 50 dollars.

buying a new computer may be costly, but you do know that you can loan money to buy stuff u want from banks?

In a Recession? Where I live, you're lucky to get a loan.

Technology progresses.
Minimum system requirements for programs that upgrade with the capabilities of new technology also change.
I get some lag in Dalaran. I have options: check to see if it is feasible to upgrade my graphics card or memory, set my display options to lower resolution while in Dalaran, or suck it up and deal with it.
Telling the company "You suck for improving your game graphics and making them more detailed, since I am too cheap to upgrade my computer, and I refuse to take 5 seconds to alter my graphics settings. I demand you use less detailed graphics to accommodate my outdated computer!" seems a bit self-centered and narcissistic.
As does "Go spend x hundred quid on a computer because we want you to sink even more money into getting full enjoyment out of one game which is paid for monthly."

You might also try Game Booster on IObit.com. When you run it, it disables a lot of unnecessary crap running in the background. I've never had a problem with the game since I bought my laptop a year ago, but I use GB anyway. *shrugs* It's free and you might try it in addition to StumpJumper's suggestion. I remember when I first started playing, it was horrible to go to
any
city because I'd lag horribly, but I lived with it.

Back in the day? Ha, it was Ironforge 'back in the day' ! That damn part out side the bank, I lost count of the times I lagged out and found myself in the damn lava trench.
Lag isn't an issue for me so much. Though there are times when I have to sit and wait for everything to load in Dal.

Ok. But you gotta pay for mine.
What? Me pay for my own? Pfft, naw, I don't have an excess few hundred dollar laying around, but if you're telling people to just go out and *buy* a new computer, well I figure you must have the extra money, and wouldn't mind sharing.
...Right?
Oh, I see. I have to over explain. Ok then.
Go out, get a job, save your money, buy a new computer.
Already have a job? Get a paper route then to suppliment the purchase.
Don't have the time to get a 2nd job, or no time to earn extra money? Then Suffer.

As the main city of the expansion, Dalaran is designed to have just about everything you need in one, centralized location. It's a convenience thing, and is certainly a far cry better than having to travel all around the world every time you want to do something.
I can sympathize with the frustration that comes from your computer not being able to handle it, but at some point you've got to face the music and stop telling everyone else to buy you a new computer. Take some personal responsibility. Hardware ages. Graphics and gameplay are moving forward.
You can't expect the game to remain stagnant because you're unwilling to upgrade your computer. The world is changing, if you can't find a way to work with it then you're going to get left behind. If you think Dalaran is bad now, chances are things are only going to get worse for you in Cataclysm.

I want to also remind you that the new X-pac will be updating the grafix in all the game, so it might behoove you to start saving now, as I can only assume its going to get worse.
