Of course they will have customized armor for the greater heroes in the story. To think that they wouldn't would go completely against the tradition of Warcraft. All the heroes have always been more unique and badass than the run-of-the-mill grunts and footmen.
As far as tier gear goes, I'm not too sure on this one. I admit it would be awesome to see an actual representation of the armor in the game, but I just don't know if Blizzard would want to go strictly with armor sets seen in the game for the heroes of the story.
That being said, we'll likely see customized armor and weaponry for the heroes, but full tier gear might not and probably won't happen.

Im sure there will be a few versions of tier armour, depending on who they use for the movie. Of course, more then likely the movie is going to be based on Orcs and Humans or Warcraft 2 so technically there would be no reason to have the tier armour in the movie heh.

Personally, I imagine the general cast members will have basic armor--probably a lot like the respective capital guards. However, I also imagine there will be "great heroes" of each class through out the movie who wear the best looking of the tier sets, as in T5 for warlocks. These might just be cameos, but they'll be there. They can't have more than one person in tier sets, if you think about it.
As for faction leaders, I imagine they'll make them look as close to the current in-game models as they can, armor and all.

Good point. For some reason I always think this will be set during the general era of WoW--I guess that's not a given. If you're right and it is sometime before WoW, or heck even before Orcs and Humans, there will be little other than general armor--the faction leaders might get something unique.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they go back to WC:II Tides of Darkness or before, most of the faction leaders from that time are now dead, are they not?

Dead or missing; Lothar dies at the end of the Tides of Darkness, Turaylon vanishes after Beyond the Dark Portal, Teranas isnt killed till third war, Gul'dan dies during the 2nd war, Cho'gall is still alive somehow, Deathwing is still around, but honestly most of them are dead at this point.

It would be cool if they tied it in with the movie. For example, show what happens to Deathwing, and then shortly there-after a new raid where we find and confront him in WoW.

We know what happened to Deathwing, he's hiding in Grim Batol creating the Twilight Flight (read Night of the Dragon). I honestly see the movie either tying orcs and humans and WC2 together, or starting at the beginning of WC3 and just have the first 2 wars as flashback type things.

You know what they may do is avoid lore as much as possible. Take some random person (be they orc, human, night elf, or whatever) and follow a quest they're on which is set in the time of one of the games, but their actions kind of parallel the major events. Like have the Second War be the 'backdrop' but not have the protagonist's action effect the out come of the Second War in any way. Y'know what I mean?

I just realized that Adam and I kind of hijacked your thread, Wirr. Sorry 'bout that.

I really like this idea. It could bring in a lot of interesting new characters that we never knew about. Sure they wouldn't have had much of an effect on the outcome of the war, but it would still be really cool to see the war from a soldier's perspective rather than from the perspective of one of the heroes. I mean, we all already know what happens in their perspective... we played the games from their perspective. A story of the common soldier in the war, and perhaps paralleling stories of families affected by the war would be something I'd love to see.

So long as Uwe Boll isn't in any way involved, I'll be happy.
