2 Hour flasks, endless healing pot, + 80AP 40 STR ?SP infinite flask, transmutes, northrend research.
I have every 450 over all my toons, and alchemy is one I wouldn't go without. If you raid a lot, it will save you a lot of money. Transmutes every day for me nets about 100g per day, and the Northrend research can sometimes give endless rage, frost wyrm or stoneblood flask which is nice.
Although I wouldn't really know about it profit wise - my toon has herbalism too, so turns all the lotus into flasks. Never actually made flasks for profit with buying the mats, solely on that I wouldn't pick up the prof.

I'm currently leveling Alchemy on an alt.
I've seen the higher level stuff going for tons of money, but I'm up to 325 and haven't made squat from it yet. Good thing I picked up herbalism with it lol.

I'm trying to figure out if alchemy will be good in the long run. Frost lotus goes for about 30-35 g each on my server and all other herbs necessary for flask at about 20g a stack. Flask between 20-30 g each. With those prices and becoming an elixir master, is it worth picking up alchemy? Thanks in advance
It all depends on economy stability. If you were an alchemy master NOW... yes, you would make soem decent profit. Just powerlevel alchemy before prices change.

Alchemy is the ultimate alt-profession. Hi, I'm an altaholic, I have 5+ level 68 alts in addition to my main; of those alts, two are level 80. I'm very slowly leveling them up, but one day not too long ago I decided to make them earn money by powerleveling alchemy 0-450 purely by buying the herbs from tha auction house. It cost 15,000 gold (3k each) but now they are each bringing in about 150 gold per day before counting the procs simply by clicking a button. They are already in the clear after 20 days of transmuting.
It's not about how much money you have, it's about how big your income is and how easily you earn it. :)

Yeah, the combination of free action potion and sprint (not to mention evasion, and cloak of shadows) makes rogues the ultimate flag snatchers in WSG and EotS. I can't believe it only sells for about 2-3 gold per potion because the AH almost never has any.

I also have herb/alch 450 I farm all my own herbs/ make all
my own potions.elixirs,etc. I trans sp. so I make money
on everything I make, bwt 1 & 2 k per wkend. My brother
and I farm daily for all herbs, so our cost is very small.
Good Luck, I buy only the needed vials. Great money maker.
3 80 toon, war, mage, dk.

Icechief, just so that you know, and this has been repeated a million times on a million websites, you and your brother are making most of your profits from Herbalism, not Alchemy. Just because you farmed something yourself doesn't mean it is free. :)

Exactly what morbanth said. Time = Money.
If you spend a whole weekend to make 1-2K gold, that is actually very costly.
For example, if you spend 1 hr on dailys that net you 100g. That is your rate. 1hr = 100g.
However, as a JC. You can log on. Visit the AH. Buy 10 epic gems, cut them, and then resell them at a profit of ~50 per gem on the AH. Come back later and check your mail for ~500g in profit for about 10 minutes of "work".
So, yes...it is deceptive, but farming your own mats is a waste of time and probably the worst way to make gold. It's like being a CEO vs Entry level worker.

Farming mats is a great way to get gold as you level up. Now that I have my crafting professions leveled, however, I find that I almost never gather, even through I have 450 Mining/Herbalism/Skinning across my chars. It's just not worth the time when I can buy mats dirt cheap/ink bulk, and make what I need in a lot less steps.
