It just depends on the content of the page being viewed. For me, WoW bogs way down when I have the talent calculator visible. Must be some conflict with Firefox, memory leaks, heavy javascript and WoW...

These are 90% related to flash ads.
Make sure you have the latest flash player installed on your computer as some other versions had some significant performance issues.

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed to see that wowhead is just becoming a clone of thottbot and allakhazam, featuring even more ads per page. They definitely make the page loading terribly slow sometimes, because it's waiting for some ad-server's response.
Fortunately, with Opera you can disable plugins (flash) per site, so that helps a bit with the flash bloat. Hopefully we'll see some reduction in obtrusive ads.

Please
report
any advertisements you feel shouldn't be on the site. We can't catch all of them and do rely on users to report them as well.

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to. Wowhead has had the same ad placements for a long time, as far as I know nothing has changed recently.

We used to have an additional ad before the sale to ZAM, under the sidebar. If anything, the amount of ads got reduced.
Additionally, all three ads are placed in iframes, which prevents any "additional loading time".
