It was 3am. We had been in Naxx for almost 6 hours now - not so from wipes, but because of loot taking longer than it should and people quitting on us, and needing to summon people in. This would be my 25th run of this damned necropolis, and there was only one item I really
needed
out of here...
Dying Curse
. Oh sure, I had seen it drop before, plenty of times. But the gods of chance have always had a hard time coping with the idea of me getting a decent roll when it comes to important loot. Sure, I won a couple rolls here and there, but does anyone really care about an icy stick of the donkey? No.
It was 3am. We were clearing out spider wing now, because we had decided to go in order of hardest wing first. I have yet to even roll on loot up to this point because I had either already owned it or didn't need it. We kill Maexxna with ease because it's a freaking spider. I check the loot while we res up, and... oh god. It's there. The triket I had seen so many times, tried so many times to get only to be defeated by a random number generator with a grudge. I had been talking about this trinket all raid, to impress upon everyone how much I wanted it, needed it. We start loot rolls, and the wait is worse than what I have already decided is an inevitability; I roll, get a 12, and watch some 600dps mage with +parry gems get a lucky 99. I hope against all odds that no one else rolls out of kindness.
Dying Curse comes up, last in the loot list for rolling. A shadow priest rolls a 55, and I instantly hate him. I know he has as much "right" to it as I do, but I still hate him for it. I sigh, type in /roll, and hit enter, ready for the inevitable roll of somewhere between 1 and 54.
You roll: 91
You recieve loot:
Dying Curse
I nearly wake up the entire city block with glee. 24 people congratulate me, invigorating us to make the final push through sapphiron and KT. I proceed to roll nothing higher than a 20 on loot that drops, but I don't care; it's all upgrades in the strictest sense only and I got what I came for, what I had been coming to this place for the past 6 months for.
So, all dramatics aside, anyone else have a good story about finally getting an item they'd been hunting after for a good long time and finally getting?

Eight weeks = eight Kel kills to finally get my
Envoy of Mortality
... I can feel your pain and your joy. Also with regard to the RNG. If it wasn't for DKP I wouldn't get any loot and I'd still be slogging through Naxx with quest blues and crafted epics. I have the worst luck ever...
Grats!

If only I could say this was interesting. Anecdotes in a game like WoW are generally boring and useless.

here is mine I have run H AN 49 times and never seen the gosmer drop. Ran HVH 86 times before seeing the bolstered Legplates drop then replaced them the next day.

The Bloodmaw Magus-Blade, and the Nathrezim Mindblade do not exist.
So long grinding T4, stuck in a guild that cant do T5, not cutting entry requirements for better guilds because of my weapon...
Then my alt hits 70, does Kara in a post-3.0 pug, guess what drops.

This. I could've been exalted with Violet Eye twice on my mage, then I decide to try out druid tanking and it drops -.-
On the other hand, T4 helm always went to someone else than me, but the sixth time, a kind guildie passed it to me. One of the happiest moments in WoW.

You roll: 91
You recieve loot: Dying Curse
congrats!
Nah, the worst luck is sarth 25, having the warrior gloves drop twice in the same run, fury of the five flights and the plate dps helm. I roll on each one. The highest roll was a 2.
this.
pugged naxx25 two nights ago on my fire mage, no strict loot rules (which i usually love). some who-knows-what-spec-that-is mage wins EVERYTHING. gotta love when those players who can't survive 3 seconds into a boss fight and wipe on trash mobs win the good gear >.< just sit there dead and win loot while the rest of us pull 4k+ for you. don't worry the healer will rez u from your 50th wipe on frogger and we'll summon you for the 20th time from falling off the pipe before gluth.
lrn2play
on a happier non-QQ note, i won armageddon and the jawbone the first time i saw them drop :p
some days the WoW gods simply favor us.

This story would have been better if it ended with you ninja'ing the item instead of winning it fairly.

This story would have been better if it ended with you ninja'ing the item instead of winning it fairly. I have a story kind of like that for
Illustration
. It drops in OS25 for the 20th time, (right next to FotFF, odd) I roll, and get a 15. The winner is the ret pally RL who says he's going to respec holy. I offer him 2k gold to loot it to me, and he accepts. The raid becomes LIVID. All the noncasters are saying they would have rolled just for the money, and all the casters are ^&*!y because I'm rich and they aren't, or they just don't want to burn the money.
Not exactly ninja looting, but less scrupulous than my OP.
