Just curious to your thoughts about heals per second in a raid environment, especially compared to a druid. My personal experience is that, a resto druid of equal skill and gear will more then likely always top HPS charts. But in the long scheme of things, does HPS really define a better healer, or overall healing? As a holy paladin i usually volunteer myself to heal Tanks, and let priests and druids handle raid damage. Dont get me wrong i dont just heal tanks, i heal my party usually while keeping beacon on the tank. Nevertheless usually at raids end, my HPS isnt as good as a druids, but my overall healing amount seems to be higher more often then not. Anyways im just curious to your guys take

"Heal my party"
Sorry, I have a problem with that statement.
Download Grid (or some other *good* raid frames mod). I don't even have my individual party showing in a raid environment.
I'm not saying everyone should just do what I do to heal. It just irks me that someone would differentiate between someone in their own party and another one within a raid while healing.

Yea, that's what focus frames are for!

Generally I heal less than bandages on trash pulls in 25 mans, quite literally. I have often been beaten by ret paladins on trash. Then on boss pulls, especially when things aren't going quite right, I'm usually either at the top of healing or very close. I agree to some extent with demaides saying healing meters are basically useless, but if you have to use them as a holy paladin, ignore them on about 95% of trash pulls; you'll only get discouraged.

thanks for the replies and to mischievious, i dont mean to imply i will only heal my raid, its just usually we set up some sort of healing assignments, more often then not the ur healing assignment seems to get stretched out during lots of raid damage so i usually end up healing out of my party

That just sounds like some non-healer... someone who doesn't even know how healing works... is doing the healing assignments.
Healing assignments should be "Healer A on Tank A, Healer B on Tank B, Healers C, and D on the raid", and then split 'on the raid' into 'on melee' and 'on ranged' when the encounter calls for it.

If a player doesn't seem to know what holy shock does and people die on Kel'Thuzad
Kel'Thuzad is a great way to see if a healer is good or bad. If you pay attention you can see who never heals a frost blast target ever.
Those are the bad ones.

If your tank nor anyone in the party dies AND you carry your weight for things like cleansing and buffs and judgments on the main mob, then you're doing it right.
People can and will die even if you're doing everything right.
Just because you're playing flawlessly doesnt mean the tree that fell asleep on the keyboard is.
I get your whole point just want to make sure that no one goes around thinking that they can solo heal through ulduar 25 because they're good healers.
