just a random Q that spurted from my sudden influx of intellect on my gear from outland (before i had to pick between SP and int, and now they're together on everything! ive gotten almost a k more hp, and almost 2k more mp since dinging 58 lol) but does int matter in the LEAST? i mean, dont all spells cost a percentage of total mana?

no... spells cost a percentage of BASE mana.... the difference, as I understand it is this:
Base mana is how much mana you would have without any gear on. i'm not sure if this goes for talents that increase your mana or not.. I would think it does. Saying, for instance, Student of the mind increases your intel by 15%, so it would go into what your base mana pool is.
Anyone who has it that i'm wrong, feel free to correct me.
think of it this way...
Blizzard (Rank 4)
says it takes up 89% of your base mana... obviously casting blizzard doesn't almost entirely deplete your mana pool.... it's your base mana, or what your mana pool would be if you were running around naked.

Base mana is mana without all your gear + your intellect.
Base mana for a mage at level 80 is around 3268, and does not change.
