Why no hit?

So I've been a druid for some time and I tanked quite a bit in BC (nothing too hardcore, mostly heroics). But now I'm noticing that hit doens't seem to be important at all for the feral tanks I'm seeing running around. I was just wondering why this is? Don't we need to be able to hit the bosses just as much as the DPSers do? I mean, not hitting the boss means we're not building threat, right?

Because as a tank, you will be in front of tank, aka you will get parried. So expertise is just as valuable as hit (if not more since being parried = speed buff to boss).
It doesnt mean to not use gears with hit, but hit < expertise. (especially if you didnt reach the 6.5% soft cap yet)

Expertise until hard cap is twice as effective as hit rating (for tanking). Because of this you see alot of bears skipping hit in favor of expertise while gearing up. this is not bad to do but don't forget about hit later on when you can easily cap both. You should not ignore it and having it is good but you want both at or near cap for you to be most effective at your job.
