What I would like to see is a third, Neutral faction. I would assume that they would have their own starting zone such as DK's, and towards the end of it, you would have a quest where you are to kill someone of a faction. When you choose the faction, you kill the opposite. (I.E. - Kill Horde, and you are allied with the Alliance, as well as the other way around.)
What would go best with this would actually be Satyrs. While the Satyrs are demons, people don't seem to mention that they are under the control of Sargeras. Being that the Emerald Dream is almost 100% confirmed for the next expansion, Sargeras will likely have some part in the game, whether he be killable or not. With anything though, Satyr's being one of the lowest ranking warriors of the Burning Legion, and yet still maintaining free will, there can be a betrayal such as Arthas did with the Knights of the Ebon Blade.
Also, Satyr's are heavy in Druidism, so they can provide another hero class, The Archdruid. As another not, since only Male Satyr's exist (Or to at least been seen in any Warcraft game), maybe instead of genders, there can be a racial to determine their faction. There are Night Elf Satyr's who were transformed, and there are, while rare, High Elf/Blood Elf Satyr's that were transformed.
If Satyr's were to have been confirmed for a race, I would assume they would have the following racial abilities.
Detect Sect - Satyr's can detect other nearby demons on the mini map.
Natural Connection - Nature resistance increased by 5%, Shadow resistance increased by 5%.
Sly - Stealth, decreasing movement speed by 50%. Damage on next attack increased by 25%. Lasts for 10 seconds. Attacking breaks Stealth.
Pre-Corruption - (If Night Elf) Increased Nature damage by 10%. (If High Elf/Blood Elf) Increased Arcane damage by 10%.
And finally, as a last bit of proof, there is also a few Satyr's in Teldrassil who are friendly to players. They could have started a pact with the Night Elves (Or gone at war) to determine their faction.
Just a theory though.

I'd like to start my post by being frank... If you don't want to read about new race ideas, don't click on the thread. Now I would love to play a Pandarean, and I think the fan support is so strong Blizzard doesn't have a choice. However, I think the next race to come out with them on the Horde will be one of two things: Some other Far Eastern racial idea (this D&D geek is hoping hengokai, but never mind that) or the gnolls. As it said in the Warcraft III handbook, the gnolls could easily be the strongest race in Azeroth if the stopped their petty quabbling over useless matters, such as who's shadow is bigger. All they need is a leader that, lord help me, is intellegent and can actually hold his position out of respect, force. Yes the gnoll is seen as the fodder in the early game, but every race has its "corrupted" cousing (e.g. Dark Iron Dwarves). Plus i'd just love to play Yggranosh the Gnoll Rouge... As for some of the other possibilities..
The Murlocks seem like a race too primal, too fierce. I just can't see a Murlock getting along in Horde civilized society let alone the Alliance..
The Naga have a really Unique problem... You are lacking half the normal equipment slots... And you have 2 extra hands. Love to see Blizzard try that alignment out. I can just see the Naga Warrior becoming a meat grinder now, with four swords or axes...
The Arakkoa would be a fun race to play as, but they seem too neutral in the game to even consider picking a side, even as a "neutral" force...
The Ogre would be an actual possibility, as its not hard to see the Ogres becoming the second big men of the Horde. And I'm sorry Ogre Mages are just scary. However, lore has told us that they are much more likely to remain neutral in this case.
I do see a couple possible ones too though...
The goblins... Yeah they're all out to make a buck. But in reality, is it too much to think that there would be agents sent out to work for both the Horde and the Alliance in order to strengthen business relations. So then you have Gadgetzan or Undermine as a Sanctuary, and the Goblins pick their faction upon character creation...because they've been assigned there by their superiors.
The current Worgen story I saw about the Scythe of Elune was excellent, and they would make a great addition to either side of the battle...
And guys, dont kill me on this... But what about a third Independent faction. Undermine would be a great third major capital, and I can see the goblins working with the gnolls, quillboars, and other races... And what is there to say that Blizzard won't pull out another well designed race out of their pocket... Azeroth is a big place, and if the Pandareans are there from off continent, why cant another follow suit.

The next races will ofc be a whole new factions, who will be hostile to both alliance and horde with their major questlines as mainly world-pvp quests given in their starter zones, and then teleported/shipped/flewn to various locations.
Burning Legion (With Fel-Orcs, Satyrs, Fel-guards, and Naga)
Scourge (Undead of various models)
Scarlet Crusade (human only, but own faction with the new faction-specific class, the monk, as well as human hunters)

Blizzard has already posted that they will never make a "Pandaren" race because of the issues it has caused with China....
Goblins are neutral and as such they have also said they will not be made playable..
Ugh... China wasn't mad about the Pandaren themselves, in some of the original concept art, they had samurai armor and other Japanese looking clothes, and China got a little bit upset because of that. Go to WoW.com, it mentions that in an old article. (lost the link)

Wow Race idea:
Mechanoid (neutral)
As more and more mechanical beings were outdated and thus discarded, an unknown force drove them to a small island far off the coast of the mainlands. The few functional mechs started to take hold of their new home, mining for resources and rebuilding their forces. Years have passed, and now the Mechanized race is has strong presence in the world! The once small island that housed and homed the first mechanoid, is now a sailing city, and needs the freshly booted mechs to go into the world that cast them out, to take hold of what they can, and show the world that they are not forgotten, that's where you com in:
racial abilities:
Convert (lv 20): Utilize mechanical adaptation to increase movement speed (similar to worgan "running wild") {NO RACIAL MOUNT}
Metallic Shielding: Natural resistance to all Poisson.
All Equipped: Comes with a gnomish pocketknife installed. may or may not need updated software.
Pile Driver: Mining increased by 15 and increased speed. may have chance to obtain extra ore from nodes.
Faulty Wiring: When health drops below 5%, discharges electrical shock that stuns all enemies in a 5ft radius, dealing (x) amount of damage (increases with lvl) when health reaches 0%, discharges remaining electricity (2-3 times normal shock)
Available class
Hunter
Monk
Rouge
Warrior
Paladin
Shaman
Appearance
Metallic body
glowing eyes/lights
moving parts (pigtail on female that swirls randomly)
about 5-6 feet tall
Hometown: Floating metal city off the coast of the mainland, has a flying node. neutral area due to race's isolation. (sanctuary, may or may not have independent faction areas, if it does, phase change due to "construction" of said areas) faction selection at end of race's beginning quest.
any and all ideas welcomed

orges are too big, nagas dont have feet,
races need to be small (enough to enter average doors) and bipedal (2 arms, 2 legs)

Tail caps and kilts for Nagas, shrink the ogres to tauren and draenei size and you are good.

how about you read the rules on race's before you try saying anything.
Body Model Balance
Various candidate races may have overly large or complex 3D body models or are missing key generic body parts that make them difficult for wearable item balance issues or collision issues. So far all the current known playable races are standard upright walking bipeds with 2 arms and 2 legs no taller than about 2.5 meters (estimate). While Blizzard is not obliged to continue this trend, for logistical and item design issues, it would be hard for them to diverge from this design without adding an inordinate amount of modeling work.
Examples of body model issues:
Too large to fit through most standard doors or implying unfairly great strength, such as large ogres or giants.
Too many appendages or limbs, such as with:
centaur (4 legs, 2 arms),
demons (2 arms, 2 legs, 2 wings and maybe tail),
dragons (4 limbs, 2 wings, and tail),
dragonkin (4 limbs, maybe 2 wings, and tail),
dryads (4 legs, 2 arms),
keepers of the grove (4 legs, 2 arms), or
nerubians (6 or more limbs, insect-based body structure).
Not enough appendages or limbs, such as with the naga (2 or 4 arms and no legs).

Um...there is no rule of races for Warcraft; since Trolls standing straight top out at 9 feet, Taurens, Draenei and Worgen can already hit their head on door frames, and other issues with the smaller races.
The only thing currently keeping playable naga away are the fact that they are one and all, completely and utterly devoted to Queen Azshara; but if the next expansion ends up being a Great Sea based one, where the Queen is killed, I could easily see playable Nagas added in to the game. The simple fact is...there are already 3D body models for the Nagas, and there are nagas in armour too, so it's not that huge of an issue as everyone thinks.
And Ogres have been steadily shrinking since they first came out; there are Ogre NPC's who aren't any bigger then a Draenei or Tauren after all.

If they really wanted to Blood, they can make any race a playable one. They have staff to come up with creative ideas for armor that could be uses
Let me ask you Adamsm, what do you think about half-breeds? I know there are half-orc of ogre descent, such as Rexxar. And there seem to be several other half-breed races out there.
And it would be a nice change if they do revamp all the character models, as it gives some more details in character customization. I think it would be nice to have this then keep adding new playable races.

Other then the Moks(Rexxar's race, which originated on Draenor, a mix of Ogres and Orcs), the other half-breeds aren't a viable race choice due to numbers(not a lot)...now, cosmetically, allowing for say half-elf skin for humans(IE high/human) or half-orc(IE orc/human((which do exist))) skin choice for Orcs I wouldn't mind; long as it fits the current lore, but that's an issue, since those are about the only ones right now that could be adult aged, unless they allow Half-dwarves and gnomes. All of the other races were introduced in the last 10 years, which wouldn't really allow for a viable choice since those ones would only be 10-14 years at the absolute most.
